UPDATE: Per writer Michael Price, The New Yoda Chronicles will debut May 3rd at 9:00 p.m. on Disney Channel before moving to DisneyXD for the 4th.
Getting us ready for May the 4th’s release of The New Yoda Chronicles on DisneyXD, LEGO has released a set of mini movies written by Michael Price. Helping transition viewers from the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy timeframe, these four shorts star Yoda, Vader, and the younglings. See Episode 4: Fall of the Republic above and watch the rest below the cut.
MakingStarWars.Net discovered that a new LEGO Star Wars program will be airing on DisneyXD on May the Fourth. The New Yoda Chronicles: Escape from the Jedi Temple looks set in the classic trilogy timeframe, with Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon as well as LEGO Star Wars character JEK-14. The new show was first hinted at several months back with a new toy in the LEGO catalog.
If you look closely, the LEGO title has been removed from the show title, as well as the addition of the word “New” to The Yoda Chronicles. These changes may have been done to neatly get by any existing deals with the previous U.S. broadcaster, Cartoon Network, as well as re-brand the show to fit the new storytelling timeframe. Notice that the word “Rebels” is mentioned in the trailer!
The LEGO Summer 2014 catalog has slipped out, and its Star Wars lineup offers a few hints for Rebels – and possibly more of The Yoda Chronicles? When the list of toy sets first started slipping out, Peter at Lightsaber Rattling explained what some of the set names might mean, while more recently Tomás at Groove Bricks got the list set descriptions, which puts most of the speculation to rest, and introduces some characters from Rebels.
The Ghost set, which is spotted in some online pictures of the catalog, is pretty clearly The Ghost, the new ship of Star Wars Rebels, revealed last year, and has a minifigure of a character named Zeb. The Phantom comes with a minifigure with a second character name: Ezra Bridger.
Join the Rebel resistance against the evil Empire in The Phantom attack shuttle, as seen in the exciting Star Wars: Rebels animated TV series! Place young Rebel hero Ezra Bridger in the detachable cockpit and store his cadet helmet and blaster in the carg
Fly The Phantom into battle against the evil Empire!
The other hard-to-decipher set name is what most sites are calling Jedi Hunter (or Jedi Hunter Frontier) while Groove Bricks also found a source calling it Jedi Scout Fighter. While Lightsaber Rattling originally speculated that it’s a Rebels-themed set, the minifigure list connects it to The Yoda Chronicles, with a new version of JEK-14. Unless JEK-14 (the Force-powered clone from The Yoda Chronicles) jumps from the LEGO Star Wars specials to Rebels, it seems that this set is a follow-up to 2013′s set based on The Yoda Chronicles. Does that mean that more adventures of JEK-14 are coming to the screen next year, since his fellow figures aren’t ones that I recognize from the three episodes of The Yoda Chronicles?
Also coming out this summer from LEGO: a new snowspeeder, AT-AT, Star Destroyer, B-Wing and Mos Eisley Cantina! Lots of love for original trilogy this summer.
So, we have a few more merchandise-related leaks for Rebels, and a sign that there might be more follow-up to The Yoda Chronicles?
‘Menace of the Sith’, the second episode of LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles, will broadcast tonight on Cartoon Network at 8 PM (ET/PT). In addition to our interview with writer Michael Price yesterday, you can get more behind-the-scenes info with another interview with Michael Price over at ToonBarn. Get caught up on the full story of The Yoda Chronicles so far with a rerun showing of the first episode, ‘The Phantom Clone’, at 7:30 PM
With the second episode of LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles coming up on Cartoon Network on Wednesday, I had a chance to chat with Michael Price, the writer of the fun LEGO Star Wars specials, and see what’s in store for the audience this time. Mike’s a great guy, always willing to talk Star Wars and comedy, and this time, we’ve got some secrets for latest installment of LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles: “Menace of the Sith”. As announced in August, the new episode premieres on Cartoon Network on Wednesday, September 4 at 8 PM (ET/PT). Continue reading “Interview: Michael Price on The Yoda Chronicles: Menace of the Sith”
The name and air date of Episode II of The Yoda Chronicles, the trilogy of LEGO Star Wars specials focusing on the comic adventures of Yoda and a special dark-side clone, has been released: ‘Menace of the Sith’ coming out on Wednesday, September 4 at 8:00 pm (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network.
From the official site synopsis of ‘Menace of the Sith’:
Darth Sidious shows off the new Sith clone, JEK 14, an extremely powerful weapon of the dark side. However, JEK has a mind of his own and wants to be his own master. It’s up to Yoda and the Jedi to stop the Sith — and to try and bring JEK 14 to the side of good.
The first episode, ‘The Phantom Clone’, aired at the end of May, and we interviewed show writer Michael Price back then about the series. With Billy Dee Williams providing a special guest voice in the first episode, i wonder who might be doing a guest appearance this time around. If you missed the first episode, I’m sure that Cartoon Network will re-air it, as well as the other LEGO Star Wars specials, in the lead-up to ‘Menace of the Sith’.
Don’t forget: the first episode of LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles airs tonight (Wednesday, May 29) on Cartoon Network at 8 PM ET/PT. Entitled ‘The Phantom Clone’, it stars Jedi Master Yoda and a group of padawans taking on the latest dangers from Count Dooku and Darth Sidious. James interviewed The Yoda Chronicles writer Michael Price last week, and we know the show is going big – after all, they unveiled the world’s largest LEGO construction, a full-size X-Wing fighter to Times Square last week to celebrate the launch!
If you want to catch up on the previous LEGO Star Wars specials, you’re in luck, Cartoon Network is airing The Empire Strikes Out at 7 PM, and The Padawan Menace at 7:30 PM. Michael Price has gone on the interview circuit in the past week:
With the first episode of LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles debuting later this month, I was able to chat with the show’s writer, Michael Price, about the upcoming episode ‘The Phantom Clone’ and see what sorts of fun adventures await us and Master Yoda. In addition to writing the previous two standalone LEGO Star Wars specials, Michael Price has been a long time writer and executive producer on The Simpsons, having won several Emmys for his work on the show.
The official site points out that while we’ve had LEGO Star Wars specials in the past, The Yoda Chronicles is first to really introduce new main characters just for the shows, in this case: a clone, Jek 14, who has been “enhanced” by the Force. ‘The Phantom Clone’ and the other two future The Yoda Chronicles specials are produced by Wil Film ApS and written by Michael Price, who wrote the hilarious previous LEGO Star Wars specials, The Padawan Menace and The Empire Strikes Out.
