This one is fantastic (I can’t help it, I love Florence and the Machine) with a lot of new scenes (Tyrion in armor! The ‘ashes’ line!) I have to say I really appreciate that the TV series is rounding out Cersei.
“Contrary to what you’ve just seen, war is neither glamorous nor fun. There are no winners; only losers. There are no good wars, with the following exceptions: the American Revolution, World War II, and the Star Wars Trilogy. If you’d like to learn more about war, there’s lots of books in your local library, many of them with cool gory pictures.”
I doubt this Bart Simpson quote is what they had in mind, but Spike TV is celebrating the ultimate result of the first with an airing of the third next weekend. Which is to say, look for a Star Wars movie to air each night leading up to July 4 – beginning tonight at 6pm with The Phantom Menace.
Has Star Wars become too ridiculous to satirize, or are Adam Sandler movies just crap? Pretty sure I know where I stand. On the plus side, Hardware Wars!
(At the risk of sounding like a South Park episode, second-rate The Simpsons mocked this exact issue with slightly more finesse a few years back. And bonus, it’s shorter.)
There’s a lot of io9 in this one… I probably ought to stop saving them up. Anyway, one of their readers spotted some Star Wars folks on Google Street View. Which isn’t that much of a surprise given that they’re hanging out on Hollywood Blvd., but whatever.
Lists: Skywalkers (and a Splinter of the Mind’s Eye reference) in io9’s most surprising family ties, while Biggs gets one of the twelve coolest deaths. Um, okay. And over at IGN, a countdown of the worst Star Wars characters, including little Ani, Jar Jar, and some “Punk-Ass Jedi Knights.” Just the high level of discourse we can always expect from IGN.
In the same vein as spring’s Vader Project, artists take on America’s favorite underachiever with The D.I.Y. Qee Project: BART Tour. Check out the gallery for Bart in Carbonite, Ewok Bart and Bowie Bart, among others. (via Neatorama)
