KOTOR MMO confirmed?

Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello confirmed it to reporters at E3 this week, according to Portfolio’s Tech Observer blog:

“We’ve got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development,” said Riccitiello. The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. “And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about — in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it.”

Does Riccitiello mean the oft rumored Knights of the Old Republic Online? “Yes,” he said.

But LucasArts told TFN “nope”. Covering for an official annoucement at Celebration Japan or SDCC? Or is is really all wishful thinking yet again?

LFL trademarks ‘The Old Republic’ and others

Okay KOTOR 3 junkies, here’s your tip for the day: ‘Interactive entertainment and software,’ ‘namely computer game software’ and ‘entertainment services provided online.’ What could it be? Whatever is it, LFL trademarked the names Star Wars The Old Republic, Star Wars Sagas‘ and ‘Star Wars Legends‘ a week or so ago, all filed with similar wording.

“KOTOR III concept art,” the continuing story

Remember the supposed ‘KOTOR III’ images? Here’s what artist James Zhang told EUCantina:

“I’ve never used photobucket — those images were swiped off a private folder on my website, and certainly weren’t intended for public use.”

and

“I can’t really comment on anything regarding the images.”

I’ve been hearing some rumblings – nothing verifiable, and quite possibly simple fan speculation – that a KOTOR III was at one point being considered, but was dropped/postponed for The Force Unleashed, something a lot of the GDC stories last week support. I wouldn’t give up hope for future installments, but don’t certainly lose sleep over it.
