Oscar Isaac, out promoting his new movie Triple Frontier, shares an Episode IX story with Jimmy Fallon about wrapping on the same day as Anthony Daniels.

Two Star Wars TV live-action shows have already been announced for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service: The Mandalorian (which apparently wrapped S1 filming around the same time as IX!) and a yet-untitled Cassian Andor show that will serve as a prequel to Rogue One. Today, Fantha Tracks reports evidence of a third show, which will film in the U.K. – unlike The Mandalorian, which filmed in southern California.
They say the show might be announced at April’s Celebration Chicago. That’s also about the time we expect our first look at The Mandalorian, given reports that Disney will be sharing a first look at Disney+ original content with investors on April 11 – which also happens to be the first day of the con, though panels aren’t expected to begin until the next day.

Jon Favreau’s Christmas gift to the fandom was a confirmation that droid bounty hunter IG-88 – or at least a very similar model – is to appear on The Mandalorian, as first reported by Making Star Wars. This show is sounding more and more ’90’s Dark Horse all the time…

Ludwig Göransson will write the score for the upcoming Star Wars TV show The Mandalorian. His credits include Black Panther, Creed, Creed II, Venom, Fruitvale Station and he’s also worked with Donald Glover.
The Mandalorian will debut on Disney+, which is expected to launch late next year. The series is filming now.
“Words fail to express how surreal and humbling it feels to be invited into the Star Wars universe,” Göransson said. “I am deeply grateful to Jon Favreau and Disney for this opportunity and to John Williams for raising the bar so high with his iconic, intrepid scores — they will never be matched. In these next months I hope to honor the tradition of Star Wars’ musical landscape while propelling The Mandalorian into new and unchartered territory. And I will try to remember that there is no try.”

Also, a reminder that while there’s (always) speculation, we have zero legitimate reasons to believe we’re going to get a look at Episode IX this month. That said, tomorrow is the one-year-out mark. I’d wager that our next bit of news will probably be the film’s title: The Force Awakens was announced in November 2016, and The Last Jedi in January 2017, so we’re in that range. Maybe J.J. will drop us another picture. But actual footage? Unless it’s something for Force for Change, don’t count on it it.
Yes, it’s hard to wait. But it’s also nice to have a December off from the madness. I dunno, maybe I’ve been blogging this stuff for too long.
Now, for our other production-in-production, MSW also has some hints at familiar figures we might see in The Mandalorian.. Or if that doesn’t do it for you, how about supposed details on Nick Nolte’s character? He’s not what any of expected.
As with any new Star Wars project, there’s been plenty of speculation as to what existing characters we’re likely to see in The Mandalorian. We saw plenty of Mandalorians in The Clone Wars and Rebels, and with Dave Filoni on board the series, there’s a good size list of characters that could make an appearance. In their latest report, Making Star Wars has some evidence which might point to the involvement of an important animated character. And also the Avatar sequels are involved. Sort of.

The Mandalorian cast list is finally official: StarWars.com reveals that Pedro Pascal will lead the series as “a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy.” Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Werner Herzog and Nick Nolte are also confirmed, and we’re hearing about Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), and Omid Abtahi (American Gods) for the first time.
The series is written and executive produced by Jon Favreau. Dave Filoni will be directing the first episode and serving as executive producer. It will debut on the streaming service Disney+, which launches next year.
Making Star Wars is verifying, of all things, a Reddit report regarding the state of certain headgear in Episode IX, as well as a new droid. I make a habit of not trusting Reddit, yet I do trust MSW. As always, we consider and wait.

The Mandalorian is bringing on Nick Nolte, Variety reports today. Lucasfilm has yet to officially announce any casting for the series, but Variety has also reported that Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano are on board. Making Star Wars has recently reported yet another name.
