- The Brits really love them some Star Wars wedding: The GFFA-themed marriage ceremony of Bramwell Brightey and Tamsyn Lofts showed up in both The Guardian and The Sun today.
- Could Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull beat Revenge of the Sith at the box office? That’s the magic of inflation!
- No jail time for drunken Vader attacker. Shocking!
- The Force Unleashed is “greatest Star Wars story that we’ve ever told in a video game,” says LucasArts’ Cameron Suey. Better than Masters of Teräs Käsi? That’s unpossible!
New Dark Horse editor’s letter sheds light on staffing changes, The Clone Wars, TFU offerings
Randy Stradley updates fans on what’s going on at the comic licensee in the latest From the Editor. As previously reported on their boards, editor Jeremy Barlow has moved on to freelance writing – and Stradley implies that he’s working on something that we’ll here about “in a future Zone.” Dave Marshall has stepped in to fill the gap, and Ms. Freddye Lins is replacing him as assistant editor.
Meanwhile, we learn that a The Force Unleashed graphic novel is coming in August, and Dark Horse will be serving The Clone Wars with a quarterly digest and monthly comic series. And of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the upcoming uber-digest Luke Skywalker, Last Hope for the Galaxy.
io9 gets peek at The Force Unleashed
Chad Vader is voicing Vader? Jimmy Smits shows up? A few tidbits, but mostly a quick overview of the game’s characters and a bit on the music.
Mace Windu and Mara Jade in The Force Unleashed?
The hell? This isn’t funny, LucasArts. (Also: Anakin Skywalker as a playable character. Is there simply a random duel mode on this thing or something?)
Expanded Universe newsbits: Comics, NRW, TFU
- Comics: Two more previews at DarkHorse.com: Legacy #23 and a Clone Wars photo comic. (That’s Tartakovsky Clone Wars – but can they call it a photo comic if there are no photos?)
- Gaming: Catch up with the latest The Force Unleashed and SoulCalibur IV news over at GameTrailers.com.
- Fandom: The TFN boards are wrapping up National RetCon Week.
So a farmboy, a Jedi, and a Cylon walk into a bar…
It’s Friday, April 11th, and that means one thing: A New Hope is airing on Spike tonight at 8/7C. (Okay, two things: a new episode of Battlestar Galactica at 10/9C.)
Gamers will also want to tune back in to Spike at midnight for GameTrailers TV, which will be showing another The Force Unleashed preview (“the world premiere of the duel mode in the Wii”) and SoulCalibur IV game footage of Yoda and Vader. (You can also catch all that at GameTrailers.com later.)
And don’t forget to vote in our poll on if you’re watching the movies on Spike! It expires Sunday night.
And the big TFU news of the week is…
Darth Vader will be a playable character in The Force Unleashed – but only for the first part of the game. At least until someone hacks it. (Can they hack console games? Maybe not.)
In any case, players will get to toss Wookiees around.
Expanded Universe newsbits: Zahn, KOTOR, TFU
- Conventions: Timothy Zahn is Guest of Honor at UberCon X in New Jersey later this month. Among his events are a Q&A and a panel on writing in someone else’s universe with Star Trek author Josepha Sherman. There will also be a charity RPG game where he’ll play one of his most famous SW characters, Grand Admiral Thrawn. (Also among the guests: our old pal Peter Schweighofer!)
- Comics: The preview for Knights of the Old Republic #27, aka the third part of Vector; A new Omnibus appears on Amazon.
- Gaming: The Force Unleashed site has had a bit of a makeover. Check out the fan toolkit (in the media gallery, under downloads) for wallpapers, screenshots, icons and more.
