Episode VII: Reports from Troy, Manchester open calls

The open call outside of Detroit – attended by Muppet Troopers! – was covered by The Detroit News, Free Press, The Oakland Press, and WWJ. But it seems like the U.K. Press has cooled a little – the Manchester call only appeared in The Manchester Evening News and Metro.

Star Wars auditions: Chicago today, new venue for Manchester this weekend

Star-Wars-logo-silver500In the U.S., there’s an open call today in Chicago at the Park West Theatre. Yesterday, Maryellen Aviano of the casting team shared some tips with WGN News. On Sunday, they’ll be in Troy, Michigan, at the Somerset Inn.

U.K. hopefuls: The Manchester auditions have been moved to the Lancashire County Club at Emirates Old Trafford. New venues are also coming for the London and Dublin (both Nov. 23/24) events, and don’t forget that Glasgow has been rescheduled for a later weekend.

Glasgow rescheduled as Episode VII open calls expand online

Well it certainly seems like the Episode VII open call has been a big hit in at least two ways – massive publicity and the sheer numbers showing up. The two parts have been listed on Backstage and the Glasgow event has been moved back two weeks due to a lack of room at the original venue. And of course, there’s always online.

Rumor: New Mexico still in play for Episode VII

SEQUEL TRILOGY RUMORS: Take seriously at your own risk.Star Wars Underworld has a source who reports that a three-year deal has been signed with Disney for Episode VII to shoot in New Mexico. A production office will open there in January.

We’ve had a variety of rumors taking New Mexico in and out of the equation for the film. The state was first rumored to be a location by local blog Sindication. They still maintain that it’s happening, so there’s plenty of smoke here… But is there any fire? Stay tuned… If there really is a deal in place, we could conceivably hear something soon.
