This was actually all over the internets a few months ago, but Paula helpfully reminded me of it today. Sure to be a huge hit at this year’s Dragon*Con and other places where people who get the joke will congregate, the shirt is available for both men and women. Wear it hoping that the Twilighters actually have a sense of humor offline.
Wacky merchandise of the day: Artoo backpack!
Fred Flare is a neat little online store (though they’ll be opening a brick-and-mortar location in Brooklyn next week) and you can pick up this Artoo backpack for a mere $65. (Though I’m sure some of our more creative crafters could simply make their own.) Also of interest (and a tad more socially-acceptable) is this Barbie ‘Nerds are hot’ tee. (via)
The fandom minute: A tee, some bad dialogue, a couple political analogies and the totally random
- T-shirt: Clearly we don’t know the power of the Force. Bet it’s awesome on floors, too.
- Lists: Entertainment Weekly has Revenge of the Sith’s ”Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo” line as one of their 15 nominees for worst movie dialogue ever.
- Politics: io9 says Sarah Palin is Star Wars and Hillary Clinton is Star Trek. Um. No comment.
- Cute: Chipmunk menaced by action figures!
Order Marc Ecko Star Wars hoodies and tees online
This can’t be good for anyone’s pocketbook, but hey: They’re both cheaper and (slightly?) more socially acceptable than most of those fancy collectibles. Above, Fett and Stormtrooper hoodies: Gizmodo has a discount code.
The fandom minute: Tees & too many lists
- T-shirts: Cover your shame with Thinkgeek’s Echo Base, Do or Do Not, and DO NOT WANT. Yes you can haz (for $14.99 – $18.99 plus shipping.)
- Lists: So if you check over on the sidebar (and scroll a lot) you’ll note there’s a tag cloud. And in that tag cloud, lists is the biggest one. Why? Because the internet loves lists. (And also, I’m not anywhere near done tagging all the old entries, changing categories to tags, and all that fun stuff.) So here are a few more: Top ten Star Wars games, ten villains who deserved better, eight timeless classics critics are afraid of, five greatest space operas. And thus the ‘net gods are satisfied.
Star Wars t-shirt roundup: Threepio in for fall!
- Threepio takes a whupping on Tin: Old Skool.
- Show your inner green with Rubyred’s Jedi Ecosaber. (Or how about some Star Wars Coffee?)
- Gross out at least some of your friends with Android Love from Joannarchy!
- Get down-home with Anakin Skywalker or Darth Vader from DieselLaws.
The fandom minute: Tee, Roddenberry, cakes, poll
- T-shirt: Foil your foes with Thinkgeek’s Mind Trick Venn Diagram
- Video: Rod Roddenberry (son of Gene) talks Star Wars and Star Trek and a talk with George Lucas. (via)
- Food: Can the world handle another batch of Star Wars cake? Even one this simple?
- Poll: Vote on your favorite Star Wars quotes. It’s a big one!
The fandom minute: Tees, lists, pedias, cubes
- T-shirts: The latest Steampunk Artoo… Now you see it, now you don’t.
- Fan sites: Wookieepedia is one of Wired’s eight best non-Wikipedia pedias.
- Craft: Fold yourself a Cubetrooper, Indiana Jones, Fetility Idol or any number of others.
- Lists: Topless Robot’s eight biggest reasons Indiana Jones is better than Han Solo, ten greatest spaceship chases ever, ten most blatant Star Wars toy rip-offs of the ’70s and Cracked’s eight classic movie robots that suck at their jobs. Hogwash!
Star Wars t-shirt roundup, just in time for spring
These aren’t authorized (well, maybe the ThinkGeek one) or otherwise legally kosher, but that’s the risk you take, isn’t it? Enjoy!
- ThinkGeek’s Cantina Band is a bangin’ salute to both the Modal Nodes and 80’s rock tees.
- Make the children cry with GlennzTees’ Scrap Metal.
- A more instructive Artoo tribute from Red Bubble: R2 Manual.
- Noisebot has an exhausting selection of pop culture tees, but here’s two that have yet to wear out their welcome: Celebrity Sword Fighting Championship and Dark Side (Of The Moon).
The fandom minute: Excessively visual edition
A number of Spike’s Star Wars billboards in New York get a bit of a remix. Am I Not Lying reports.
Chop Shop’s WeRobot and AlienWe tees feature several familiar silhouettes… I swear! (We featured their pin-stripe shirts a while back.)
Doctor Beef’s stormtroopers are small, frisky, and ready to get down. (Check out all her photos for lots of tiny plastic fun.)
