Geeky Do-Good Thing of the Week

Michael Shanks, who is just wrapping up a 10-year stint playing Daniel Jackson on Stargate SG-1, is holding his third annual auction to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

In addition to the truly bizarre things (like the costume he wore for a college production of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”), you can also find SG-1 scripts and nifty signed things from all the Vancouver-area sci-fi productions.

Gate Geekiness

In today’s Stargate bits, we have:

Producer Robert Cooper reveals just what The Ark of Truth (the upcoming straight-to-DVD SG-1 movie) refers to. (Spoilers. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.)

Cooper also tells the SciFi Wire that the much-discussed third Stargate series is still being developed.

Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) spills just a little about the last SG-1 episode.

Bridge Studios, home to Stargate and many other sciffy kinds of shows, has been sold.

And, most amusingly, David Hewlett’s Spacey’s acceptance, um, squealing is now available on YouTube. (You might want to turn down the volume for this one.)

Back from Hoth

Nope. Not a Star Wars story. But the cast of the upcoming Stargate SG1 movies felt like they were on Hoth when they went to the North Pole to shoot scenes.

GateWorld has compiled the coverage and pictures into one story about their adventures.

In news from Stargate Atlantis, GateWorld has posted their interview with Paul McGillion (Dr. Beckett). It contains many spoilers for the second half of Season 3 (which has finally started airing in the US). There’s also some great talk about his appearances in A Dog’s Breakfast and Sanctuary.

The Gate Reopens Tonight

Fans in the US will finally get to see the second half of the current seasons of Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis, tonight, on SciFi Channel‘s SciFi Fridays.

The producers are, understandably, a bit nervous about whether or not anyone will actually be watching, since many US fans found other means to see the episodes that had already aired in other parts of the world. According to Joseph Mallozzi, whether or not Stargate Atlantis will get a Season 5 could depend on ratings during the second half of Season 3.

And now that fans can finally see the last part of the last season of Stargate SG1 on TV, the Season 10 DVD’s North American release has been announced as July 24th.
