The third and final Coruscant Nights novel, Patterns of Force, will be in bookstores tomorrow. And comic fans won’t go empty-handed this week, either: Both Legacy #32 and the first Vector TPB are on Diamond’s shipping list for Wednesday. I’m also hearing that the latest Star Wars Insider is now in stores.
EUbits: Gizmodo discovers the GFFA; TFU up for writing award; First look at Insider #107
Great things on the Wookieepedia: Gizmodo has blogged the Wookieepedia’s galaxy map (originally appeared in Star Wars Insider #65) thus making it legitimately cool on the internet. Or something. Not that I’m saying you kids still don’t have some work to do.
- Comics: Randy Stradley has an update at Dark Horse’s Star Wars Zone. Big news is that The Clone Wars comic will go on (monthly!) for six more issues. And there will be two big announcements at New York Comic-Con.
- The Force Unleashed: The game is a nominee for the WGA’s award for 2008’s best videogame writing. (via)
- Magazines: Could the Star Wars Insider be on the road to improvement with a new editor?
- Authors: Karen Traviss is up for the Philip K. Dick award for the final book in her Wess’har series, Judge.
Out this week: Legacy TPB, Insider
No more new books until the end of the month, but Wednesday does bring the fourth Legacy trade collection, Alliance. And in the midst of all last week’s new books, I forgot about Insider #106, which should be in stores (and mailboxes) now.
Also, our book release schedule has been updated, though the only new thing of note is the release date for The Force Unleashed paperback: August 25.
Out this week: DVDs, Insider, Rebellion
There’s a lot coming out this week, but sadly little of it is anything new. Today brings two DVD sets, repackaging the two-DVD editions of the Original and Prequel Trilogies. You can also pick up the latest Star Wars Insider.
Meanwhile, Wednesday brings the third collection of Rebellion, Small Victories.
EUish news: The Old Republic, Insider, comics
The Old Republic: EUC spotted a video of last week’s reveal. No trailers or gameplay footage though – there’s some sort of exclusive deal with “a US broadcaster.” (Spike? Cartoon Network?) Meanwhile, io9 talked to lead designer Jeff Dobson.
- Insider: Issue #105 looks err… umm… Yeah. On newstands next Tuesday.
- Comics: Preview Knights of the Old Republic #35.
Out this week: Luke omnibus, Legacy, Insider
All is quiet on the book front until October, but there’s quite a comic pile coming on Wednesday. Okay, most of that heap is the giant 800-page Luke Skywalker: Last Hope for the Galaxy collection, but there’s also The Clone Wars: Shipyards of Doom. For regular comics, Vector begins its final lap through the comic GFFA in Legacy #28.
And let’s not forget the latest Star Wars Insider…
Looking ahead: December comics, Insider
StarWars.com has Dark Horse’s solicitations for December 2009, including the Vector finale (aka Legacy #31,) The Clone Wars #3, Knights of the Old Republic #36, the fifth Legacy collection and a couple of Indiana Jones titles.
Coming to stores a bit sooner (September 16th) is Star Wars Insider #104 with a heavy focus on (of course) The Clone Wars and The Force Unleashed. Other content? A look back at Star Tours, the Holiday Special and an interview with Dennis Muren.
Out this week: Blueprints, trivia, Dark Times
First, a couple of things in stores now: The Star Wars Ultimate Blueprints Collections (DK says it came out yesterday, but I saw it at Borders on Saturday) and Obsessed with Star Wars, a trivia book by our pal Ben Harper. Several CJers have already picked it up and been stumped, so be ready for a challenge.
Also be on the lookout for the second Dark Times trade collection and Star Wars Insider #103.
Newbits: The Clone Wars, Insider, Soulcalibur
- The massive dump of tie-ins for The Clone Wars is nearly upon us, and the official site has a quick peek at The Clone Wars: The Visual Guide.
- So much is coming out Saturday that we may actually be overdosed by August 5, but if you still crave more there’s always Star Wars Insider #103.
- And finally, take a short Clone Wars-free break with an interview with director Katsutoshi Sasaki about Soulcalibur IV and how Vader, Yoda, and the secret apprentice came to join the madness.
Out this week: Jedi Twilight, Dark Times #12
On Tuesday, look for the first book of Michael Reaves’ Coruscant Night trilogy, Jedi Twlight at bookstores. On Wednesday, comic fans can pick up Dark Times #12/Vector part 6.
The latest Star Wars Insider should be in stores now as well.
