The screenwriter talked to MTV about his nixxed Indy IV script. But this also lead me to the rumors about Darabont’s script having the archaeologist dealing with aliens. As fantastic as a decent Indiana Jones/X-Files crossover maybe/sorta/kinda could be, that’s one thing that’s probably best left to fanfic… Which may indeed be where the rumor originated. Fandom, you so crazy. Never change.
TV show hints from an unlikely source
AICN has a tidbit regarding the upcoming Clone Wars 3-D show from musician Eric Riegler:
The EmCee introduced Eric, and said Eric had just finished recording some music for the Star Wars TV Series. I followed up with Eric during the intermission, and he told me the following: Yes, he did in fact record music for the series. Each of the planets has its own theme, and the one he was brought in to develop music for was patterned after Bulgaria. So, his music was patterned after an instrument (I think he called it a gaeda (spelling?), a bagpipe-like instrument played there), although he performed his music on the Irish Pipes. He said it looked amazing, and Lucas had done an incredible job of the look/feel of at least what he saw.
He also said he was told the series/his episode would be airing Summer, 2008.
X-Files movie rumors, again
Gillian Anderson says to Empire: “They’re starting to talk about doing a feature again. Every year or two they talk about it again, but it seems like it might be for real this time. Somehow it seems like somebody’s really serious about it. I know that Chris’ lawsuit with Fox is over, so maybe now it can be done.”
I want to believe (especially since she talks about it being more like a stand-alone episode where, in retrospect, the series was often strongest) but is it too little, too late? Or, with 80’s nostalgia is so hot right now, is it too soon to revisit the 90’s?
Artoo mailboxes lend credence to rumour
TFN finds visual proof of an impending Star Wars/Postal Service mashup: R2-D2 mailboxes. Holy Sith, are they adorable. They better make some little banks or something because I’m sure plenty of people would be willing to violate federal laws to get their hands on one of these babies.
Indy 4: Truth to LaBeouf rumor after all?
Variety reported yesterday that Shia LaBeouf is in ‘final talks’ to to play Harrison Ford’s son in the fourth Indy film.
Rumor mill: Star Wars goes postal?
According to TFN’s ‘anonymous insider,’ the U.S. Postal Service will be announcing 30th anniversary stamps on the 16th, revealing the designs on the 28th, and start issuing them in late May.
Rumor mill: Pirates 3 postponed?
Movie news sites predict that the lack of publicity means At World’s End may not pull into theaters in May.
Rumor mill: Saga Sexy Time Box Set
An archiving seminar at Sundance (scroll down) hints at new footage for the next DVD release, perhaps including brand new footage? It’s pure rumor, right down to friend-of-a-friend, but you know fandom – we won’t put anything past George.
Feiner says he worked for three years cleaning up the Star Wars movies for release in 1998. “We were then contacted by Lucas to go into another 100 shots that we hadn’t done before. I basically said, ‘Why are we doing this? You released the picture.’ He said, ‘Well, we want to go in and clean up stuff we hadn’t done before.'”
That’s when he picked up on a bombshell: “I heard through another source, some friends of mine up at ILM (Lucas’ special-effects company), they were doing additional shots to get cut into a new version. I’ve never seen it, and I don’t know anybody outside of George and his small cadre that have seen it. I’m just making an assumption that they’re going to use this for some future release.”
There has long been suspicion that Lucas might try to further integrate elements of his prequel trilogy with the original tale of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. LucasFilm spokesman John Singh said late Tuesday: “There are always a wide range of rumors flying around about Star Wars. There have been a lot of tests done over the years to help ILM explore new technology, but we don’t have any plans for another Star Wars release.”
Sure you don’t, LFL. Sure you don’t.
Rumor mill: BSG renewal expected
SyFy Portal reports that it’s likely that Battlestar Galactica will get a fourth season order from the SciFi Channel, possibly before the show returns on January 21. However, the fate of spin-off series Caprica is less clear.
There are also rumors of a direct-to-DVD movie release.
A friend of a friend of an anon source…
It’s been a while since the rumor mill ground out anything about the Star Wars TV shows and/or a sequel trilogy … Aren’t we lucky that TFN has an anonymous source that knows a guy who overheard George Lucas mention TV, HBO and episodes VII – IX at a party? You keep chasing the dream, mousies.
