Rumor: Jar Jar in The Clone Wars?

Well, I suppose someone has hold down the fort on Coruscant if they’re going to give Padme an actual plot… Anyway, this is what io9 claims:

Sources tell io9 Jar Jar Binks will be back in the new Star Wars: Clone Wars animated movie and series. But you won’t see too much of him.

You can see the actual item here, but beware: It’s their ‘Morning Spoilers’ post, and also addresses stuff like X-Files 2, The Dark Knight, and Dr. Who.

Gambit in Wolverine!

IMAGE: So, wait, if Kol is Wolverine, than is Cade... No. Can't be. But now we know who he stole the coat from. It’s great that they might finally bring Gambit into the X-Men movieverse (or so Superhero Hype reports) but what does he have to do with Wolverine? I mean, I realize I only read X-Men comics for a year or two back in the 90’s, but the two never struck me as having much of a connection. Are they swapping Gambit in for a less popular character, ala Rogue for Jubilee in the first X-movie?

And, sorry Josh Holloway fans, but they’re also saying that Taylor Kitsch of Friday Night Lights has been cast. Hopefully he doesn’t turn out to be too much of a disappointment for the lusting fangirls. Assuming they can tear their eyes from Hugh Jackman, anyway.

ETA: Variety reports that Kitsch is in and indeed playing Gambit. Ryan Reynolds and will.i.am also join the cast as Deadpool and John Wraith.

Rumor: Say goodbye to Galaxies?

IMAGE: Hey hey hey goodbyeSurfer Girl claims that LucasArts is going to pull the plug on the venerable Galaxies to make room for the new multiplayer:

The Artistic Lucases think that they have the only IP that can pose a serious challenge World of Warcraft and find that the setting of KOTOR is too niche to be a threat. They apparently expect the new Star War MMO to have at least three million subscribers by the end of the first year.

If KOTOR is too niche how come half of fandom won’t shut up about it?

…Oh.

Really, if true, the death of Galaxies may be just as well. They are clearly a very disturbed bunch of folks!

Sci-Fi Channel may revive Caprica

According to AICN, the latest issue of TV Guide is reporting that the Sci-Fi Channel, desperate for scripts due to the strike, may give the Battlestar Galactica prequel project a greenlight after all. Of course, knowing Sci-Fi, they might not air it until 2010 anyway.

Has Nintendo nixed an official Wiisaber?

So it is claimed, says Maxconsole…

According to IGN’s Gerry Block, the company has had direct information that Nintendo will not allow the licensing of any bat like attachments for the Wiimote such as a lightsaber due to safety concerns. So therefore, Lucas Arts will not be able to release its own Official lightsaber add-on for the forthcoming Star Wars game.

That’s harsh, man. Harsh. Think of the poor children who now be forced to play with their toy lightsabers outside!

Crystal Skull being prepped for Blu-Ray?

Blu-Ray.com visited the THX booth at CES 2008 and rooted out this intriguing salvo in the all-but-settled format wars:

As we all know, Paramount’s deal does not cover Steven Spielberg films, and so Indy 4 is being prepped for Blu-ray Disc for release sometime late this year. Apparently, Paramount is reluctant to pony up the additional cost for the disc to be certified, so it may take George Lucas to personally step in and make it happen.
