“Hard to believe we’re wrapping up week four already, it’s just flying by,” Director Rian Johnson said as he shared an Episode VIII set picture on his Tumblr this morning. The pic features cinematographer Steve Yedlin and the Millennium Falcon cockpit.

Meanwhile, there are more detailed rumors on the Dubrovnik shooting – including someone’s stunt double, which is more than a little surprising.

UPDATE: Some (apparent) extras, possibly guards or part of a police force, have been spotted.

Today in VIII: Week 2 begins, evidence mounts in Dubrovnik

viii-rj-tweet022216Episode VIII director Rian Johnson marked the beginning of the second week of filming with the crossword puzzle in the International New York Times. SPOILERS! (For the crossword.)

Now, debate: is that a First Order control board or some sort of actual film equipment? A good catch by Justin LaSalata from The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary. (Note a lot of the Starkiller Base sets were reused for the Finalizer.)

→ There are sets in Dubrovnik, dates for filming, and rumors that Benicio del Toro – and maybe Carrie Fisher – will be there.

Moviepilot is generally not a site I trust (at all,) but they are claiming that Danish actress Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (Pitch Perfect 2, Game of Thrones) has been cast as a Knight of Ren. Be aware.

→ I joined Bryan and Amy at Full of Sith for their latest episode, where we discussed what we know of Episode VIII (well, what we knew as of Saturday, anyway.)

Rogue One catchup: A character name for Felicity Jones?

rogue-one-detail1Making Star Wars has a few bits for Rogue One: A name or codename for Felicity Jones’ character. (Remember, most sources for The Force Awakens were calling Daisy Ridley’s character ‘Kira’ – we didn’t hear the name ‘Rey’ until it was officially revealed just after the first teaser trailer, which could also be the case here.)

They also have a bit on Jiang Wen’s character, and a pair of posts on new trooper types we may see.

→ At Toy Fair, Jedi News heard from several licensees that Force Friday will return to launch Rogue One merchandise on September 30, 2016.

→ Scottish model Eunice Olumide has a part in the film, and she described a scene to the Edinburgh News. (via)

→ On Today last week, Forest Whitaker described the film as a “little edgier” for Star Wars.

Rumor: Ewan McGregor in talks for Obi-Wan Force ghost cameo?

rumors-swirl-sw-obiLast time we heard a rumor from the folks at Schmoes Know it was regarding an end credit scene for The Force Awakens. Will Kristian Harloff’s current tweet-scoop be more lucky? An appearance from Ewan McGregor as Force ghost Obi-wan Kenobi isn’t so far-fetched as to be out of the question.

McGregor already had a brief line in The Force Awakens, so maybe this time things will pan out for the Schmoes. We’ll see.

Checking in with Rogue One: Don’t expect anything at Toy Fair

death-star_plans

Just like they did last year, Hasbro won’t be showing any toys from Rogue One at Toy Fair this year, per a statement from the company. On the other hand, we do expect lots and lots of The Force Awakens stuff!

Meanwhile, for the rumor hounds, Making Star Wars has a pair of reports. The first pertains to an all-new villain and his striking wardrobe, while the second has to do with hero disguises and code names.
