Rick, redux
iF Magazine’s interview with Rick McCallum at the Saturn Awards, way back on May 2nd. So it’s mostly stuff we’ve heard already, about 3-D, box sets, and the TV shows. Some interesting stuff about George’s perception of the audience for the prequels, though.
Thank you, Rick!
Rick McCallum speaks about the upcoming Star Wars television shows at the Saturn Awards, and busts open my least favorite rumor:
McCallum also denied rumors that the new series would focus on members of the Skywalker family, but repeated that the show will take place in the timeframe between Episode III and IV. “All-new characters,” he added. “That missing 20-year period when Luke is growing up. … Think bounty hunter. That’s all I can tell you. There’s nobody else that you’ll know [in it]. At the moment. You know, it’s still [in] really really early stages. He hasn’t really sat down to think about which direction [he’s going].”
He also said that the live-action show is about 18 months off, and the animated shorts maybe a year.
Rick spills the beans
Rick McCallum loves to talk when he does anything with Empire Magazine.
A summary of what he said:
– The TV show will be set between Episodes III and IV, will be “much darker,” and “character based.” But we still have to wait about 18 months before that starts cranking.
– George’s movie Red Tails about World War II fighter pilots is in the script-writing phase.
– George has finally approved the IndyIV script. Maybe we’ll be able to do it before Harrison Ford is in a wheelchair!

“The best trailer we’ve ever done”
Revenge of the Sith producer Rick McCallum had a Hyperspace chat yesterday – although you have to be a Hyperspace member to see the whole thing, TFN has some highlights.
