Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
On Wednesday, head to your local comic store or app to nab Darth Vader #3, which introduces Aphra, “the galaxy’s foremost raider of lost weaponry.” There’s a preview at CBR.
There’s sure to be another new comic next week, but our next book release will be the paperback of John Jackson Miller’s A New Dawn on March 31.
Marvel keeps the new stuff coming as Wednesday brings us Princess Leia #2, only two weeks after #1. CBR has a preview of the new issue.
On Wednesday, head to the comic store (or your digital equivalent) to pick up Marvel’s Star Wars #3. (It has at least one variant cover.)
The new Star Wars Insider, #156, will also be out in the wild.
We’ll have more Darth Vader and Princess Leia comics in the coming weeks, and our next novel is the paperback release of John Jackson Miller’s A New Dawn on the 31st.
Tuesday brings us our first novel of the year, Kevin Hearne’s Heir to the Jedi. Fair warning: I was not impressed.
Wednesday sees us with yet another comic launch: Princess Leia #1. Marvel has posted a sketchbook from artist Terry Dodson.
Coming up, we have the A New Dawn paperback on March 31, and
William Shakespeare’s The Phantom of Menace (yes, it got a title change) on April 7.
In stores Wednesday is Darth Vader #2, featuring, apparently, Vader’s runway walk. Will Vader win this round of GFFA’s Next Top Model? Tune in to see!
But first, today brings the paperback of James S.A. Corey’s Honor Among Thieves. I gave it a B+ back when it first came out last year.
Next week is Kevin Hearne’s Heir to the Jedi – look for my review next Monday. Star Wars.com released a preview of the audiobook yesterday.
The Marvel release parade continues this week with Darth Vader #1 in stores on Wednesday.
We’re expecting Darth Vader #2 this month as well, but it’s not on the distribution list for the 11th. The Princess Leia mini-series will begin next month.

It feels like Marvel’s Star Wars #1 just came out (this may because I only read it last week) but here we are again, with Star Wars #2 in the shops (and online) on Wednesday. Like #1, this one does have a number of variant covers… Although not quite as many. Props to everyone who can actually keep track of them.
If you’re collecting the Star Wars #1 reprints, the second printing will also be in shops this week. It has a black background in place of white, and we learned today that the third printing will be red.
Also due later this month is Darth Vader #1 and #2, or so the solicitation leads me to believe. Presumably in different weeks, but we’ll see when the distribution lists come in!
In stores now, the paperback edition of Joe Schreiber’s Maul: Lockdown. It’s Legends now, if that matters to you, but James gave it a B+ when it first came out last year.
Next up is something new, Kevin Hearne’s Luke Skywalker novel Heir to the Jedi on March 3. It’s been getting some very mixed early buzz.
There are no books or comics on the horizon until next year, but we do have two long-awaited releases this week regardless, at least if you’re a The Clone Wars completeist. There’s the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions and the series’ soundtrack.

Today, of course, sees the release of James Luceno’s Tarkin, our final novel for the year. If you’re on the fence, you can read the first fifty pages now, or Tosche Station has a Go/No Go.
The book seems to be receiving good reviews from the sort of folks who would enjoy a Luceno novel about Tarkin, but not being one of them, I shall abstain. I do, however, find that Mike Cooper’s review squares pretty well with my past experience of the author.
As for Wednesday, we even have a Dark Horse hardcover, the Dark Times Gallery Edition.
