Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
In the comics shops this week is Darth Maul #3. And while you’re there, you might want to pick up Poe Dameron #13, since I forgot to do a release post last Monday. Celebration!
Coming up next week are three things for the Rogue One fans – Beth Revis’ Rebel Rising, Greg Rucka’s Guardians of the Whills and the paperback edition of James Luceno’s Catalyst.
Meanwhile, our book release schedule has been updated to reflect some of the Celebration announcements.
If you’ve been holding out for a physical copy of Rogue One, Tuesday is your day for the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital combo pack and DVD. In the book aisle, there’s the latest Star Wars Visual Encyclopedia by Adam Bray, Cole Horton and Tricia Barr. You can get a preview (via our own James) at StarWars.com.
It’s a no-slouch week for comics as well, with Star Wars #30 and Marvel’s Rogue One #1 dropping on Wednesday. In reprints, there’s the A New Hope: Special Edition and a gigantic box set.
The mass market paperback edition of Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath: Life Debt drops Tuesday. I gave it a B back when the hardcover came out.
Rogue One is out in digital now; next Tuesday brings the Blu-ray and DVD versions, plus a new Star Wars Visual Encyclopedia.
This week brings only Darth Maul #2 to comic shops on Wednesday.
It’s another single-issue week for comic fans, with Poe Dameron #12 being the only new Star Wars on the comic shop shelves this Wednesday.
Coming on Wednesday is Doctor Aphra #5 and a new Legends collection. The Old Republic Volume 2 collects #19-37 of Dark Horse’s Knights of the Old Republic series, plus the series’ handbook.
Coming Wednesday is Star Wars #29, featuring… Yoda and a rock thing that looks kind of like Thanos? You do you, Marvel.
Out Tuesday is Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath: Empire’s End, the final book in the new canon’s first trilogy. The Norra Wexley and Rae Sloane double-sided poster are exclusive to the Barnes & Noble hardcover.
Already out and about are two excerpts and a reveal, while Lucasfilm editor Jennifer Heddle offers six reasons to be excited about the book. Look for my review tomorrow.
This Wednesday brings only one comic, Poe Dameron #11.
Next week, however, we get Aftermath: Empire’s End. We’ve already seen posters and one excerpt – expect a bit more hype this week.
There’s one new comic and two Vader-themed reprints up on the slate for Wednesday. The comic is Doctor Aphra #4, while the first reprint is the second hardcover volume of Marvel’s Darth Vader. The third item is the third Empire-oriented Legends collection.
