This list by Pablo is actually from a few years back, but it got a bit of a spiff-up for the new format, and what the hell — it is Halloween, and the internet has the collective memory of a goldfish for stuff like this. (Not you, Wookieepedia.) Have at it, kids.
Out this week: Invasion, Vector Prime is 10
Buffy is here to save the day! No, wait, it’s only Invasion #4, out in comic shops on Wednesday. Oh well!
But on that note, the TFN boards are celebrating ten years of the New Jedi Order. Grab your favorite womb spore and… uhh… err… Chewbacca! Damn it. Sorry, I’m just not up to this one.
Video flashback: The Vector Prime TV commercial
Quality of Vector Prime aside, this was a sad day for Expanded Universe fans… I remember being surprised by it on the Sci-Fi Channel and being terribly embarrassment squicked. (My wariness of book trailers probably dates from that moment. Though things do seem to have improved.)
In any case, better now than later to introduce the Expanded Universe playlist at Youtube ClubJaders. Most of it is much less squicky than this, I promise.
SDCC ’09 roundup: Star Wars Day in the afternoon
Fine, I cave: I’ll be updating this throughout the afternoon/evening, at least until the Spectacular… Unless something huge breaks!
The sun says hello. Afternoon for me, anyway: All this was morning for California, and you can tell because StarWars.com has snapshots from the Fan Club Breakfast, and more from TFN. (5:20e)
All the wonderful toys. They also have Hasbro’s presentation. The Comic Packs are mostly things we’ve already seen, but I think the Exar Kun and Ulic Qel Droma are new. Walmart is getting an exclusive Corran Horn/Whistler and Rouge Squadron #1 two-pack (Dllr Nep and Plourr Ilo?) while Target will have a Wedge with X-Wing.
But the biggest news in here for us is that they’re adding Jacen and Jaina Solo to the Droid Factory line in 2010! Meanwhile, future Comic Packs will include Legacy’s Delia Blue/Darth Nihl and KOTOR’s Jarael/Rohlan Dyre. (5:20e)
Something something in 3-D. EU Cantina was tweeting live from The Clone Wars panel. Tidbits include S2 tone, comments on rogue Jedi and the unlikliness of a second movie. (5:20e)
Out this week: The Invasion begins
Miracle of miracles, Invasion #1 is actually shipping on time. Look for it at your local comic store on Wednesday.
Invasion preview continues at StarWars.com
Part 2 of the StarWars.com Invasion preview is up. In other comic-on-the-web news, TOR’s Threat of Peace #8 is up.
The Invasion begins on Friday!
The first part of Invasion will be appearing on StarWars.com May 8. Are you ready for a return to the NJO?
WonderCon: Invasion cover revealed
StarWars.com has cover art for the upcoming NJO series, which was revealed at WonderCon today. They also ask editor Randy Stradley a few questions.
UPDATE: Tom Taylor says it’s Luke on the cover, but I have some doubts.
Interviews with the Invasion team
TFN has two separate interviews with the creative team behind Dark Horse’s upcoming New Jedi Order comic, Invasion. The first is with writer Tom Taylor, by former staffer Mike Cooper on their message boards. The second, on TFN proper, is with artist Colin Wilson, who’s also worked on the Star Wars titles Legacy and Republic.
And don’t forget about our Invasion poll!
Poll: Ready for Dark Horse’s NJO Invasion?
Last weekend at NYCC, Dark Horse announced Invasion, a new ongoing series set during the massive New Jedi Order series. Fandom, at least the TFN version, went wild with fanboy squee at the news. But for many of us, the NJO and the five years of books detailing it is something we’d rather put behind us. Do you have faith in Dark Horse’s ability to revitalize (or recapture) the era? Vote on the sidebar or beneath the cut. Continue reading “Poll: Ready for Dark Horse’s NJO Invasion?”
