TGIF: The Song That Goes Like This
For all lovers of musical theater and/or Monty Python.
Video: Totally not Harry Potter the Musical
Cheap shots: X-Men: The Last Standing Ovation
This has been around a while, but what the hell… It’s timely! And if you’re looking for something a tad less 2006: Wolverine: The Musical.
Point of no return this, Andrew Lloyd Webber
He’s prepping a Phantom of the Opera sequel, Love Never Dies. But wait, it gets worse: It’s set on Coney Island.

Video du Jour: Sweeney Todd!
The trailer for Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Based on the musical of the same name, it features Johnny Depp singing. Singing!
Harry Potter: The Musical!
Coming to London’s West End… maybe.
Producers are already working on script ideas and hope to bring the musical to London’s West End next year.
They are looking for a big-name composer to write the music.
I nominate Sir Rogue and Jeff!
Orcs!
The Lord of the Rings musical moves closer a March 23 opening night in Toronto and the set designer isn’t even nervous!
It doesn’t sound like there’ll be a chorus line of dancing Orcs or a rendition of “Don’t Cry for Me Minas Tirith.” Ah well.
Get those toes a-tapping
Plans are underway for composer Adam Guettel and screenwriter William Goldman to bring “The Princess Bride” to the stage as a musical.
Speaking of musicals (nice segue!), the London revival of “Guys and Dolls” has recouped its capitalization in just 17 weeks.
While we’re still on the topic, don’t miss your chance to see “Star Wars: The Musical Edition” playing in Boston in November.
