A former Marvel employee on Disney’s desired demographics (aka not girls and women) and what we can do about it. None of us are ignorant that Disney bought Marvel and Lucasfilm for further access the ‘boys market,’ but this is a nice overview of how licensing works, and who we have to contact to show there is a demand for more Gamora, Black Widow and Princess Leia merchandise.

Marvel’s Star Wars: Artist Stuart Immonen to take over for Jon Cassaday

Marvel’s Star Wars to get a new artist with #8. Jon Cassaday’s last issue on the comic will be #6, with Stuart Immonen coming on the book with #8. Issue #7 will feature a “very special guest artist.”

Out this week: Star Wars #3

marvel-sw3On Wednesday, head to the comic store (or your digital equivalent) to pick up Marvel’s Star Wars #3. (It has at least one variant cover.)

The new Star Wars Insider, #156, will also be out in the wild.

We’ll have more Darth Vader and Princess Leia comics in the coming weeks, and our next novel is the paperback release of John Jackson Miller’s A New Dawn on the 31st.

Out this week: Heir to the Jedi, Princess Leia #1

Heir to the Jedi (jacket)Tuesday brings us our first novel of the year, Kevin Hearne’s Heir to the Jedi. Fair warning: I was not impressed.

Wednesday sees us with yet another comic launch: Princess Leia #1. Marvel has posted a sketchbook from artist Terry Dodson.

Coming up, we have the A New Dawn paperback on March 31, and
William Shakespeare’s The Phantom of Menace (yes, it got a title change) on April 7.

Princess Leia #1 has sold 200K copies to retailers, ComicBook.com reports today. The issue will be out in March.
