This time appearing on the audiobook listing for the final Legacy of the Force novel at the Random House catalog, it’s hefty, spoiler-filled (for Sacrifice and Revelation,) and, well, pretty much the same as the last few with some grandiose touches. It’s beneath the cut for posterity.
Spotted at NJOE, a brand new Invincible summary in Del Rey’s Summer catalog (on page 75.) A bit spoilery if you can’t been reading the others, so highlight to read:
Luke Skywalker is stuck on the horns of a dilemma. He is convinced that Darth Caedus, the Sith Lord who began life as Luke’s own peace-loving nephew, Jacen Solo, must be destroyed-yet he worries that his vision is tainted by his own anger, pain, and desire for revenge. Jaina Solo, Jacen’s twin sister, has completed her training under the galaxy’s most fierce anti-Jedi warrior, and now it falls to her to fulfill her destiny as “Sword of the Jedi.” And so while the forces of the shattered Galactic Alliance struggle to end the civil war that has set planet against planet, Jaina-along with her parents, Han and Leia, fellow Jedi Knight Zekk, and old friend Jag-heads right into the lion’s den to confront the horrific tyrant who was once her twin brother….
There’s also some black and white cover art that looks like a rough sketch of the official cover. But the most interesting bit may be “Online promotions, including fan video contest, and series timeline and countdown at www.legacyoftheforce.com.” Looks like the site has been around a while, but there’s not much there yet but catalog links.
I’ve been hearing rumblings of a Denning book tour as well, and the catalog pegs New York, Philadelphia, Lexington, Cincinnati, Dayton, Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Denver, and Salt Lake City for author visits. However, this does seem to be a slightly older catalog, so take nothing on pure faith. (The Essential Atlas, page 93, is shown with the June release date.)
Also in the catalog (page 72 and 73) are the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull novelization and The Complete Making of Indiana Jones. Naomi Novik fans might also want to check out page 79 (Victory of Eagles is a hardcover?)
E-books: The folks over at NJOE spotted a listing on Random House for the first eight Legacy of the Force books due out April 29th. At only $40, it’ll save you more than $20 than if you were buying them all in paperback, so if you haven’t started LOTF yet, this is a great deal. (Sacrifice sees PB release the same day.) The last book, Invincible, comes out May 13th. (via)
Last week’s poll asked what clearly doomed EU character is the least likely to survive their series. And the verdict is… Ahsoka Tano with 45 votes, even though The Clone Wars series hasn’t even started yet! Can’t say I’m surprised: That girl has had cannon fodder written all over her from day one. Coming in second (29 votes) is Darth Caedus of Legacy of the Force. The end of Caedus is almost certain, although you’ll note I didn’t mention Jacen Solo… Rounding out the back is Ferus Olin of the Last of the Jedi series with 21 votes. I found that surprising, due to that everyone I’ve known who actually reads those books seems to hate him… And he’s going up against Darth Vader, come on!
This week’s poll is about participation in the official site’s now-defunct What’s the Story feature, which allowed regular-joe fans to add a bit to Star Wars canon.
Last week, we asked what you thought of the latest Legacy of the Force book, Karen Traviss’ Revelation. And it turns out most of you… Haven’t read it yet! Shocking.
Out of 112 voters total, 34 of you haven’t read it yet and 26 have no plans to read it. Of those who did, another 26 loved it, 16 thought it was okay, and 5 each went for ‘Meh’ and ‘Didn’t like it.’ The percentages don’t quite add up to 100%, but polls are weird that way.
In other Revelation news, it hit #1 on the New York Times and Publisher’s Weekly mass-market bestseller lists. It’s not totally unprecedented (Fury was #3) but I suspect part of this is that it’s simply not the season for a lot of big releases yet. (Or, Boba Fett fans: Go figure.) We’ll see how Invincible does in May.
Our new sidebar poll, inspired by the season finale of Stargate: Atlantis, is about time travel. It expires next Saturday at midnight. (I promise – no pie charts.)
A summary has reportedly appeared on the Science Fiction Book Club website and is available only to members, but someone at the Wookieepedia cut and pasted it.
VERIFIED: Paula logged into the SFBC and this is indeed the one they have posted.
The club writes their own summaries (check out the different Betrayal blurbs at SFBC and Random House) so it’s not too surprising that this is different from the last. (Which still hasn’t been confirmed – they’re keeping a tight lid on this one.)
Our latest sidebar poll is about Legacy of the Force: Revelation, and so far 32% of you have no plans to read it. Thankfully I have a whole week to figure out how I’m going to make a chart out of that one.
