Composer John Powell begins scoring Solo
Solo director Ron Howard and composer John Powell both shared photos yesterday as the scoring process began at Abbey Road Studios in London.
The score will also feature a new Han Solo theme from John Williams.
(Yes, there are also pictures of Powell’s dogs.)
John Williams to write a theme for Solo
John Williams will be contributing to the Solo soundtrack. “The present plan is that I’m writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he’ll do brilliantly,” he told Variety.
Powell was announced as the movie’s primary composer in July. He’s only the second non-Williams composer to work on a live-action Star Wars film, after Rogue One’s Michael Giacchino.
John Powell to score Han standalone
The still-untitled Han Solo movie now has a composer – John Powell. His previous credits include the Bourne movies, How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek and many more. Powell follows Rogue One’s Michael Giacchino as only the second composer not named John Williams to score a live-action Star Wars film.
