- Preview: Take a peek at the first issue of the new Star Wars Adventures digest. Apparently some have found it in the UK, but there’s been no sign of it on Diamond so I wouldn’t go looking just yet.
- The Blogside: Paul S. Kemp has thoughts on writing Crosscurrent, while Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff has two updates in her Padawan’s Journal series: Protocol Droids and Velveteen Bunnies and Mistakes Were Made.
- The Clone Wars: Don’t expect to see a paperback of Karen Traviss’ Clone Wars novel anytime soon – There are no plans to release one, says Sue Rostoni. If you absolutely must have a paperback, look to the UK version.
- Comics: DarkHorse.com has a new From the Editor, about Invasion. (Nothing we don’t already know, but we can expect an announcement in a week or so.)
- Webcomics: Third and fourth updates in The Old Republic‘s Threat of Peace.
First look at Dark Horse’s July comics
Rebelscum has Dark Horse’s July comic solicitations, including Invasion #1, The Clone Wars #7 and Legacy #38, above.
WonderCon: Invasion cover revealed
StarWars.com has cover art for the upcoming NJO series, which was revealed at WonderCon today. They also ask editor Randy Stradley a few questions.
UPDATE: Tom Taylor says it’s Luke on the cover, but I have some doubts.
Out this week: Legacy
Wednesday will bring Legacy #33, finishing off the ‘Fight Another Day’ storyline. In other comic news, Randy Stradley said on the Dark Horse boards that there will be an Invasion announcement at WonderCon next weekend.
Five weeks until Fate of the Jedi: Outcast!
Interviews with the Invasion team
TFN has two separate interviews with the creative team behind Dark Horse’s upcoming New Jedi Order comic, Invasion. The first is with writer Tom Taylor, by former staffer Mike Cooper on their message boards. The second, on TFN proper, is with artist Colin Wilson, who’s also worked on the Star Wars titles Legacy and Republic.
And don’t forget about our Invasion poll!
Poll: Ready for Dark Horse’s NJO Invasion?
Last weekend at NYCC, Dark Horse announced Invasion, a new ongoing series set during the massive New Jedi Order series. Fandom, at least the TFN version, went wild with fanboy squee at the news. But for many of us, the NJO and the five years of books detailing it is something we’d rather put behind us. Do you have faith in Dark Horse’s ability to revitalize (or recapture) the era? Vote on the sidebar or beneath the cut. Continue reading “Poll: Ready for Dark Horse’s NJO Invasion?”
EUbits: Deathtroopers format upgrade; Interviews with Stradley, Stover, & Hale
Updates from Sue Rostoni: Deathtroopers is becoming a hardcover, and the release date has been moved up to October 13th – all the better for Halloween sales, no doubt. Also moving is the newly-titled Fate of the Jedi: Backlash, back a week to January 26. Our book release schedule has been updated.
- Comics: Dark Horse’s Randy Stradley talks Star Wars with Newsarama. The big news here is that Invasion, like Rebellion, will alternate with Dark Times: “five months on, five months off.”
- More interviews! In podcast form! Author Matthew Stover on the Dragon Page; The EUCast has voice actress Jennifer Hale.
NYCC: Dark Horse takes on the NJO with Invasion
News out of New York Comic Con! Dark Horse is launching a new ongoing series based in the New Jedi Order era, Invasion… It follows the Yuuzhan Vong and will feature main characters like Luke and Jacen. It’s scripted by Tom Taylor with art by Colin Wilson, and will launch with a web-only preview issue on StarWars.com in May. (via)
UPDATE: Dark Horse is not adding a another book; Rebellion is getting the ax and Invasion is replacing it. Check out a full report from NYCC’s Dark Horse panel at Newsarama.
Also coming up, Fixer. Um, okay. And a webcomic tie-in with The Old Republic.
