Those of you not already sick of it can pick up The Clone Wars #2 at your comic shop on Wednesday. But never fear, my fellow Clone apathists – next week finally brings us Millennium Falcon!
Oh, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull comes out on DVD. Duh.
The original trilogy makes a nice showing, with Empire Strikes Back at #3, A New Hope at #22 and Return of the Jedi at #91. (Plus, Raiders of the Lost Ark is #2.) The prequel trilogy clocks in with The Phantom Menace at #449 and Revenge of the Sith at #330.
As for other movies of interest: Serenity (#383,) Clerks (#361,) Shaun of the Dead (#231,) The Princess Bride (#122,) Batman Begins (#81,) Evil Dead (#49,) The Matrix (#39,) Terminator 2 (#35,) Aliens (#30,) Blade Runner (#20,) 2001 (#16,) and The Dark Knight (#15.) I think all of LOTR was in the top 100 too, but I lost track because 500 MOVIES IS RIDICULOUS.
The no-brainer:Christopher Nolan to make third Batman film, start production in February. Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Gary Oldman will return. Nothing sarcastic here, move along.
Okay, so it’s a prequel. Or something:Guillermo del Toro is directing The Hobbit, if you haven’t heard. But he also wants to do a Frankenstein movie. Hopefully he doesn’t pick up any of Peter Jackson’s King Kong mojo while he’s down in New Zealand.
Yeah, there are new comics and all, but today StarWars.com has announced a new Indy tie-in novel, Indiana Jones and the Army of the Dead by Steve Perry. The book is due in paperback next April. This isn’t a first – Bantam published quite a few original Indiana Jones novels back in the 90’s – but the program hasn’t been active in some time.
The script for Frank Darabont’s Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods – the one Spielberg and Ford liked, but Lucas rejected – has reportably been leaked online – but good luck finding a copy now.
I kind of missed the pie charts, until I made two of them in a single night. Anyway, here are the results of our two-week polls concerning the two biggest events of May: the final Legacy of the Force novel (fig. 1) and the long-awaited fourth Indiana Jones movie (fig. 2.) Overall, it seems you guys liked them – although you clearly liked Indy a lot more. Of course, he received the most votes as well – 154 to Invincible’s 119. (Not too shabby on the book’s part, even considering that our audience is a bit skewed in that regard.)
I dare you to resist these Star Wars mice from Etsy’s The House Of Mouse. There are Yoda, Chewie, and Obi-Wan, of course, but also Luke, Anakin, Palpatine, Leia, Han, and even Indiana Jones. But that’s not all… There are plenty of familiar mouseterpations of other CJ favorites, including Harry Potter and a pirate. There’s a pretty huge selection, so there’s bound to be something for everyone… She even takes commissions!
