Today in The Force Awakens: It’s all about the ladies, and George Lucas has seen the film

lat-womenToday’s must-read was an article from Meredith Woerner at the Los Angeles Times about the women of The Force Awakens. In addition to the characters (it’s revealed that Captain Phasma will be returning for VIII,) Kathleen Kennedy also talks about the importance of having women behind the scenes, and how that helped the movie.

→ On that note, agent Adriana Alberghetti told the LAT that she’s gotten meetings for four female directors and three female writers for Star Wars films. She doesn’t name names, but Newsarama notes that her clients include Orange Is The New Black director S.J. Clarkson and Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer Marti Noxon.

→ George Lucas has seen The Force Awakens and, Kathleen Kennedy tells The Hollywood Reporter, “he really liked it.”

Carrie Fisher was on Good Morning America this morning, and not only was she amazing, but she was full of praise for the film.

More The Force Awakens ornaments are coming to Hallmark… Next year. Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma are available now.

Good Morning America to feature Star Wars “secrets and footage” this week… But not from The Force Awakens

UPDATED: Despite an earlier report that The Force Awakens ‘secrets’ were coming to Good Morning America this week, the show will actually be featuring “never-before-seen secrets and footage” from the six older films on Thursday and Friday as we approach the digital release. (via)

That doesn’t mean we won’t get anything related to The Force Awakens or Celebration Anaheim, but I wouldn’t count on it.

GMA: The Force Awakens teaser voiceover is indeed Andy Serkis, and about that final lightsaber sound…

tfa-promo1-broadsaber800Good Morning America had their segment on The Force Awakens today, and their “exclusives” are fairly underwhelming: The first is one we’ve heard before and have little reason to disbelieve: The voiceover is Andy Serkis.

And tonight, if there was any doubt…

Slightly more intriguing is that they claim the lightsaber heard at the very end of the teaser is the blue one Luke has in A New Hope… Hmm. Disney company or no, not sure I trust GMA has that officially, but I assume we’ll get more as the day goes on. So that’s our new debate for today. Whoo.
