Sue Rostoni announced that Troy Denning’s first Fate of the Jedi novel – third in the cycle – is titled Abyss.
New blurbs for Outcast and No Prisoners!
StarWars.com has the cover summaries for The Clone Wars: No Prisoners and Fate of the Jedi: Outcast. The Outcast blurb is quite intriguing and gives us a few more plot details! Check it out at the link or under the cut. Continue reading “New blurbs for Outcast and No Prisoners!”
Fate of the Jedi blurb from Millennium Falcon
So with only a week to go, it’s not too suprising that some folks have got a hold of Millennium Falcon early… And while I wouldn’t post actual MF spoilers (I’m sure you can find them yourselves,) the book does contain a new blurb for the upcoming Fate of the Jedi series, and NJOEers have transcribed it for the rest of us. It’s a bit more detailed than anything else we’ve seen so far, so read it under the cut. Continue reading “Fate of the Jedi blurb from Millennium Falcon“
Expanded Universe newsbits: Sue hints, January comics, Sean Williams, sibling rivalry
Lots of tidbits: Sue Rostoni has continued posting bits and pieces about the new contract on StarWars.com boards and blogs, including the timing of Fate of the Jedi and Blood Oath (apparently Seeley’s cover art has Zekk “in a very manly pose, looking ruggedly handsome.”) Meanwhile, the first FOTJ cover will feature Luke, although no artist names yet, and the manuscript for Shadows of Mindor is 419 pages. And she’s updated her book schedule entry with a few new dates (already reflected in our schedule) and the news that the Reaves/Bonhoff ‘holostar’ novel is set two years before the Battle of Yavin. And today we swing right back to Fate of the Jedi: It “will continue to be a mix of characters.”
- Comics: StarWars.com has Dark Horse’s January 2009 solicitations, but it looks pretty slim: Just Knights of the Old Republic and the beginning of Legacy’s first post-Vector arc.
- The Force Unleashed: Sean Williams shares his piece from the Adelaide Advertiser on writing Star Wars.
- LOTF: io9 features Jacen and Jaina as one of Science Fiction’s Fiercest Sibling Rivalries.
EU newsbits: FOTJ, Imp Commando, TFU, KOTOR
- Fate of the Jedi: The second book, Christie Golden’s Omen, has appeared on the Random House online catalog with a release date of June 23, 2009. (Please remember the page count is probably a placeholder number.)
- Imperial Commando: Karen Traviss talks about the fate of Sev on her blog.
- The Force Unleashed: Kotaku interviews Haden Blackman. (via)
- Comics: Preview Knights of the Old Republic #34.
Title change for Fate of the Jedi #2
The title for Christie Golden’s first Fate of the Jedi novel has been changed from Enigma to Omen, Sue Rostoni said on the boards this afternoon. She’s been posting quite a bit lately, so poke around!
Infodrop: Sue Rostoni on the new contract
Sue posts furthur details about the upcoming books on her blog. The relevant (new!) information…
- Fate of the Jedi #1: “Luke and Ben attempt to follow Jacen’s previous journey in the hopes of discovering what and how various Force-using groups influenced him to accept and use dark side powers.”
- The Clone Wars: Wild Space: Stars Obi-Wan Kenobi and Bail Organa! (Did we already know this?)
- Blood Oath: Takes place just after we last see Zekk, Dave Seeley is doing the cover!
- Joe Schreiber’s horror novel: Set between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.
- Paul S. Kemp’s Jaden Korr book: Takes place during the… Great Hyperspace War? Well, I’m confused. UPDATE: Kemp clarifies.
- Alex Irvine’s novel will star Nomi Sunrider!
- The paperback by Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff features “a promising holostar – a rags to riches story set against the backdrop of the early days of the Rebellion.” (Fan speculation/wishful thinking is pegging the holostar as Wynssa Starflare.)
Poll results: Anticipating the new publishing contract
Behold, the next three years of Star Wars publishing, ranked by CJ readers. Most of you seem to be looking forward to Fate of the Jedi: This poll also got more votes than the second, 172 to 143. Of the second poll, which asked you to choose from among the rest of the new contract’s fiction (at least those that we have some detail on) the clear winners were those that have established fanbases: Cunningham’s Blood Oath, featuring charter member of the Jaina Solo harem, Zekk; Irvine’s Knights of the Old Republic novel, set just before the popular games; Traviss’ Imperial Commando; and Drew Karpyshyn’s third Darth Bane novel. The rest are certain to see their stock rise as we get more details.
EU newsbits: Rebel Force, Golden, lost comics
Rebel Force revealed: TFN, via Eddie, has the blurbs for the first two books of the upcoming (and still not officially announced) Scholastic series. The gist? They start off right after A New Hope and star Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie. Continuity fans are already freaking out, but the rest of us might actually want to try the things. (Over at StarWars.com, Eddie says he found them in the latest Previews, so all signs point to legitimacy.)
- Fate of the Jedi: Author Christie Golden writes about Star Wars and being asked to be part of the new series.
- Comics: Collection of ‘lost’ stories in the works!
- Lists: The Jedi
AcademyPraxeum is part of io9’s guide to getting into the universe’s most prestigious colleges. And yes, ‘praxeum’ still makes me roll my eyes. Feel free to keep writing Dune books, Mr. Anderson! - Housekeeping: Our book release schedule has been updated to reflect the latest infodrop – and also now links to author tags for quick and easy news-checking.
Fate of the Jedi blurb from the Random House
Random House has posted their spring catalog as a PDF, and it includes a blurb (though no cover) for Fate of the Jedi!
Fate of the Jedi launches a huge story arc, with heroic roles for the galaxy’s most beloved characters — Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, and their surviving children, Ben Skywalker and Jaina Solo. While Luke and Ben set off on the journey of a lifetime — of discovery and hardship, of obstacles and victories—the others remain in more familiar territory, dealing with the aftermath of the civil war that rocked the galaxy in the Legacy of the Force.
Some of that is familiar from early rumors but it’s good to have some sort of official confirmation. (When are the print catalogs sent out, exactly? Could it be the source of the early leak? Plus there are a few recently-revealed things missing, like the title of book 1, Outcast.) We can also expect a seven-city author tour, a “free PDF sampler giveaway,” an “original prequel short story” and a live chat (that’s been a while) on StarWars.com. (No, FateOfTheJedi.com isn’t live yet!)
Millennium Falcon also gets a page, which touts that it will have an excerpt from Outcast. Excerpts in hardcovers? That’s new…
