A Family Guy: Blue Harvest DVD may be out as early as January. It’ll feature an ‘extended cut’ of the A New Hope tribute episode as well as commentary and interviews and perhaps even a little something something in 3-D.
Potter! Potter!
The release date for the DVD of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is now being reported as December 11.
With the start of filming for Half-Blood Prince just around the corner, more casting news is finally becoming available. David Thewlis will be returning as Remus Lupin and James and Oliver Phelps will apparently be back as the Weasley twins (woot!).
Oh, and Daniel Radcliffe is nervous about being naked on Broadway.
Fall release for OotP DVD?
At least those in the United Kingdom will be getting it November 12th. No word yet on North America or the rest of the world.
The complete Angel
The Angel Collector’s Set box isn’t anything to write home about, but at least it doesn’t recall Barbie. The set will be out October 30th and retail for $140, but is currently only $97.99 on Amazon – quite a deal for a full five seasons.
A girly-girl TV moment
I swear I have a battered hand-me-down Barbie case (this one, in blue) that looks a lot like the Gilmore Girls complete series case. Honestly I’m not sure if that’s a homage or an insult. GG isn’t The Sopranos or anything, but Barbie?
The Fans Give Back
Apparently, J. Michael Straczynski owes a bit to the Babylon5 fandom for helping get the new DVD’s done. Warner Brothers managed to lose or destroy the show’s computer graphics, so they had to turn to fans who had worked up their own graphics in order to get the special effects done in time.
Hmm. Do the fans get any producer credit for that?
Babylon5 Boldly Returns
As if there weren’t enough genre things to keep a fan giddy this summer, Babylon5 fans (including Captain Sheridan himself, Bruce Boxleitner) are getting ready for the release of the upcoming DVD The Lost Tales – Voices in the Dark on July 31st.
Dust off your Centauri hair.
Young Indy Chronicles coming to DVD in Oct.
Fans of Indiana Jones should mark their calendars for October 23, 2007 as the release date for the first of three DVD sets for the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (shown on TV in 1992-1993). Paramount Home Entertainment will release Volume 1 in October, with Volumes 2 and 3 released sometime later, raising hype for Indy IV. I was a big fan of the YIJC, as I was about his age when the show aired, taking Indy through many adventures around the world, and meeting historical figures during his travels.
And speaking of the fourth installment of the man with the hat and the whip, Rotten Tomatoes has some speculation as to the plot of Indy IV.
Continuum Continues SG1
SG1 producer Robert C. Cooper seems to have been talking up a storm, last week. And the teasers keep coming about the upcoming SG1 straight-to-DVD movies.
Roundup: Star Wars in the news
Rumor mill powers activate: Is LFL planning to hold back the Saga Sexy Time Box Set? You know, the one with all six movies that doesn’t officially exist yet? This is also the first I’ve heard of a nine disc set, not that it means much in this context.
Frat boys dig metal bikinis: TFN reports that Carrie Fisher tops Maxim.com’s Hottest Nerd Crushes list. Other honorees include Liv Tyler, Jennifer Garner, Jeri Ryan, Grace Park and Gillian Anderson.
One-offs
- One-time rebels now the established force
- Fan makes a fan film. Will wonders never cease?
- Dark Side of the Force, another Star Wars tribute band. How many of these are there now? Enough for a battle of the bands at Celebration, I bet.
- Geeks are Oscars overlooked stars. You don’t say.
