Well, looks like TFN’s rumor was on the money: There is a Clone Wars DVD coming out on March 24th – the first four episodes. I was poking around Borders last week, and it seems that this is a common format for kid’s TV, with a full collection released later. Sure enough, TOS does say that a full season boxed set is coming later in the year.
Rumor: The Clone Wars on DVD in March?
TFN has a source saying that there are tentative plans to release the first set of The Clone Wars DVDs – the first part of the season – on March 25th. (A Wednesday? One strike.)
Assuming Cartoon Network takes no more breaks, the season’s last episode will air on the 20th… And perhaps the second half on DVD in June, if any of this pans out.
UPDATE: And things just got a lot more solid… it’s in Previews! Click over to the TFN link for scans.
Joss reviews Dr. Horrible… Sort of
With the DVD release of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog coming up this Friday, the Amazon asked Joss Whedon to give it a review. A little odd, since he wrote it, so, well, he made his review a little odd in kind. It’s typical Joss goofiness, which is fun, and definitely worth a read. I give it forty eight billion stars.
I can’t wait to watch “Commentary!” the musical!
Concept art and cut scenes from The Clone Wars DVD
io9 goes inside The Clone Wars DVD so we don’t have to. Also roaming around online is a ‘complete list’ of titles for season 1 of the TV show, at least some of which seem to have originated on the DVD.
Super bargain for Pixar Ultimate Collection
It’s a wee bit too early for holiday shopping, no matter what the store decorations say. Still, Amazon is right this minute offering the Disney / Pixar Ultimate Collection for $109.99, 54% off list price. The DVD set contains every major Pixar release from Toy Story through Ratatouille, so I’m sure we all know someone who would appreciate it. (via)
Today in The Clone Wars: Droids, droids, droids
Cartoon Network has added a Saturday morning showing of The Clone Wars to their schedule. Also at the link, writer Kevin Campbell talks about Artoo’s bits and pieces. Plus, the ‘Duel of the Droids’ preview.
- io9 was less than impressed with ‘Downfall Of A Droid,’ while IGN gives it a 7.2.
- And here’s another Clone Wars DVD review at DVD Talk.
Out this week: The Clone Wars on DVD
EUbits: James Luceno, Sue Rostoni, TOR novel, TCW
EU Cantina has posted their interview with James Luceno. Topics include writing, Millennium Falcon, Brian Daley, and the future of the EU. They’re also taking questions for their next interview, with Lucasfilm Licensing Executive editor Sue Rostoni.
- Upcoming: …Speaking of, Sue made a rare weekend appearance on StarWars.com this afternoon to confirm that there will be some sort of novel tie-in for The Old Republic MMO, though the details are still up in the air. She also touches on the Fate of the Jedi covers.
- Comics: Buy The Clone Wars movie at Target, get a free variant-cover copy of Shipyards of Doom.
- LOL N00B: io9 mines some general Star Wars cluelessness to make a case for the Nagai. Thirty years and countless sources of EU, and they latch onto …albino space elves? Bravo.
It’s Friday and The Clone Wars is back
After a week of hiatus for Halloween, The Clone Wars returns tonight with “Downfall of a Droid.” Take a drink every time Ahsoka says “Artooey.”
- New webcomic, The Fall of Falleen; Writer George Krstic talks about Artoo.
- The Force-Cast as an interview with Krstic and a “Rookies” roundtable.
- The Clone Wars DVD comes out next week; TFN gathers the early reviews.
Out this week: DVDs, Insider, Rebellion
There’s a lot coming out this week, but sadly little of it is anything new. Today brings two DVD sets, repackaging the two-DVD editions of the Original and Prequel Trilogies. You can also pick up the latest Star Wars Insider.
Meanwhile, Wednesday brings the third collection of Rebellion, Small Victories.
