The new (to me) Geek Crafts blog has a list of thirteen geeky baked goods for your perusal. Some we’ve seen before, but many we haven’t, including the great Revenge of the Sith cake above. (Check the blog’s comments for more, too!)
Secret apprentice crosses over to Soul Calibur
Gamespot is reporting that the secret apprentice from The Force Unleashed (aka Starkiller) will be joining Vader and Yoda in Soul Calibur IV – on both versions of the game.
While we’re on the subject, io9 has some pics and a trailer with footage of Vader and Yoda.
The fandom minute: Collecting, Leia, book club
- Collecting: Times Online‘s money blog has a list of the top ten Star Wars collectibles – some old, some new. Cinematical has all the pictures.
- Lists: Filmcritic puts Leia at #5 on their ten best female action heroes.
- Expanded Universe: The EU Cantina is reviving their Book Club this summer with the Republic Commando series.
- Blogs: Don’t talk to Darth Vader before he’s had his coffee.

Kotaku isn’t particularly impressed, and neither am I, thanks in part to the fairly disturbing fight sounds from Vader’s opponent. Gamers, your thoughts?
(Fair warning: The high res isn’t that high res.)
Only you could be so bold, Font Vader
In the news: Kids, Ford, Tatooine, Vader riots
- Fandom: Maryland kids learn lightsaber moves, provide adorable picture.
- People: Harrison Ford talks about Star Wars, Han Solo to USA Today.
- Science: Tatooine for real?
- Oddities: How can you resist a line like “Darth Vader was a Lansing Community College student who was later charged with inciting a riot?”
And the big TFU news of the week is…
Darth Vader will be a playable character in The Force Unleashed – but only for the first part of the game. At least until someone hacks it. (Can they hack console games? Maybe not.)
In any case, players will get to toss Wookiees around.
Advertising fun: Your daily dose of potty humor
This ad for the German (?) digital TV service Premiere is one of three featured on Ads of the World. The other two invoke Scream and Spider-Man. No idea if these are real ads or spec/student/portfolio work, but still pretty funny.
Poking around I also found a few more Star Wars-themed ads for Sony, Blockbuster and Disney (1, 2, 3, 4.) And it appears that Spike wasn’t the first to put fluorescents to work for the cause.
Darth Vader among EW’s choice baddies
Naturally Darth Vader is the poster boy for Entertainment Weekly’s 50 most vile movie villains. The lineup continues with part 2 tomorrow, and then there will be a vote.
Other genre baddies making the cut (so far) are Khan Noonien Singh and Captain Vidal of Pan’s Labyrinth.
