Tomorrow is Free Comic Book day
Head out to your local comic book store tomorrow for Free Comic Book Day. No Star Wars offerings this year, but free comics are free comics, and some stores will have writers, artists, and 501st in attendance.
First look at July comics
Dark Horse solicitations for July 2007. Legacy #14 kicks off a new storyline that promises to reveal the identity of the elusive Darth Krayt; Rebellion #8 hasd Vader visiting what appears to be the laser show (Retro!) planet; and KOTOR #19 kicks off a new arc as well. Exciting stuff.
Buffy #2 out today
No Star Wars, but it’s still worth going to the comic store if you’re reading the new Buffy The Vampire Slayer series – #2 is shipping.
Just in time for comic day, Scott Allie of Dark Horse talks to Newsarama about the new series and working with Joss Whedon. Revealed: They expect to go for at least 50 issues, and although Whedon isn’t scripting them all, he’s guiding the series and hopes to write half the arcs. Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man) and Whedonverse veteran Drew Goddard will be scripting future arcs.
Buffy comic goes back to print
Well, I know my store was sold out – if you didn’t nab one on Wednesday, don’t worry – Dark Horse is going back for a second printing.
Out this week
Today, the Boba Fett: Man With A Mission trade.
And… It’s not Star Wars, but Buffy #1, the ‘season 8’ comic, is a pretty big deal. It’s even shipping on time! But has it really been ten years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer started? I got into the show late but it doesn’t seem that long…
Dark Horse for June
Coming for summer: Legacy #13, Rebellion #7, KOTOR #18 and more.
New previews from Dark Horse
Get a quick look at Legacy #10 and an even quicker one at Legacy #11. Vader’s taking his pants back – by Force.
Did you hear about Captain America?
If not, I’m sorry, but you are living under a rock. The news was everywhere, including the front page of The New York Times website. The Beat has a nice press roundup.
Librarians heart Tag and Bink
Tag and Bink Were Here, aka one of the best Star Wars comics Dark Horse has ever published (in this blogger’s opinion, anyway) has been selected by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA, a division of the ALA) by being one of their selections for the 2007 recommended list of Great Graphic Novels for Teens. Rock!
