There’s nothing new in the bookstores this week (unless you haven’t picked up the new Insider yet) but there’s plenty coming to your local comic shop on Wednesday.
For ongoing fans, there’s Knight Errant: Escape #4 and Lost Tribe of the Sith: Spiral #2. Or, pick your collected poison with Crimson Empire III: Empire Lost in trade paperback, or The Crimson Empire Saga – all three installments – in hardcover.
Beyond that, you can look forward to the paperback of Drew Karpyshyn’s The Old Republic: Revan on the 24th, and Pablo Hidalgo’s Essential Reader’s Companion on October 2.
Street dates. Knights Archive spotted this release date for Troy Denning’s Crucible on the Random House Smart Archive. As it is put there by the publisher this could be the real release date… At the moment, anyway. The farther we are out from a release date, the more the things move around, but it might be worth penciling in.
Meet the new folks. Rebels authors Martha Wells and Kevin Hearne both spoke out publicly for the first time after the announcement of their new Star Wars project.
Star Wars Reads. Start planning for October 6th now, as StarWars.com has posted a location map for events through the U.S. A few authors have posted where they’ll be appearing already: Troy Denning, Dan Wallace and John Jackson Miller will be in Roseville, MN, while Pablo Hidalgo and Haden Blackman will appear in Corte Madera, CA, along with Aaron Allston, Drew Karpyshyn and Alexander Freed in Austin, TX. I suspect we’ll be hearing about more of these as the date approaches!
Comics. Skuldren from Roqoo Depot taped the ‘One Writer’s Approach to Star Wars’ panel at Celebration.
Detectiving! In all the hussle and bussle of live-tweeting Celebration, there’s not always time go back and find your sources. Thankfully, Pete did a little digging to find Paul Kemp’s tweet about his mystery duology.
In stores now is the paperback reprint of the seventh Fate of the Jedi book, Aaron Allston’s Conviction.
If you head over to the comic shop, you’ll find Darth Maul: Death Sentence #2 (which James has already reviewed) and the first Clone Wars Omnibus, The Republic Goes to War.
Fans who won’t be spending Wednesday on the road or in airports may appreciate that Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison #4 will be in stores that day.
As expected, it’s a slow week for Star Wars releases. Comic-reading Clone Wars fans can look forward to something on Wednesday with the release of a new Clone Wars digest, The Sith Hunters.
Looking forward, our next few book releases are both paperback reprints: Aaron Allston’s Fate of the Jedi: Conviction (Aug. 28) and Drew Karpyshyn’s The Old Republic: Revan (Sept. 25.) The next actual new release will be The Essential Reader’s Companion by Pablo Hidalgo – which Del Rey kindly gave us a peek at last week – on October 2.
Tomorrow is the day… Aaron Allston’s X-Wing: Mercy Kill will finally be in stores. Entertainment Weekly has yet another excerpt.
We linked several of the early reviews on Friday, but the weekend brought one more by Big Shiny Robot’s Bryan Young. “The book kept my heart pounding and a smile on my face, which is the best I could ask for from a Star Wars book,” he writes… So far, so good!
Meanwhile, Wednesday will be good to comics fans, with both Knight Errant: Escape #3 and Lost Tribe Of The Sith: Spiral #1 due in the shops.
It’s another light release week for Star Wars fans, with Darth Vader And The Ghost Prison #3 on Wednesday being the only release
At least we know there’ll be something next week: John Jackson Miller’s Lost Tribe of the Sith: The Collected Stories.
Live, from the con floor, thanks to a few enterprising fans, under the cut! Note, if you’d just like the news, head here: Post-Fate of the Jedi novel from Denning, Dawn of the Jedi novel from new author coming.

Coming to your local comic shop on Wednesday is Knight Errant: Escape #1, the beginning of a new storyline for Kerra Holt and crew. There are two versions of the cover – one by Benjamin Carré (above left) and the variant by Mike Hawthorne.
It’s also time to be on the lookout for Star Wars Insider #134, notable to EU fans for the short story ‘Getaway’ by Christie Golden, starring Jaina Solo and Jag Fel.
