Well, we don’t have just one do-good opportunity, this week. We have a whole round-up of opportunities as Firefox looks at Giving Back, Fandom Style.
Save your pennies
A rare set of the Harry Potter book series, signed by J.K. Rowling, is to be auctioned off for charity.
They will be auctioned off on eBay in aid of local charity Books Abroad which supplies books to children in 80 countries worldwide.
The Potter books are expected to raise at least £20,000.
Also, the release dates for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix have been confirmed as November 12 in the UK and December 11 in the United States (no word official word on Canada yet).
Do-Good of the Week: Get Tee’d Off
Fans for Life has announced an upcoming charity golf tournament with some sci-fi celebs.
If you head over to LA, you might have the chance to golf with Connor Trinneer, Dominic Keating, Claudia Christian and several others. All proceeds benefit The AIDS Service Center.

Dinner with Joss on eBay
A dinner with our Alternate Master Joss Whedon is being auctioned off starting July 2nd. Five lucky bidders will win, with proceeds going to Equality Now.
$950 for an empty box?
Not as strange as you may think… Well, okay, maybe a little.
Geeky Do-Good Thing of the Week
Michael Shanks, who is just wrapping up a 10-year stint playing Daniel Jackson on Stargate SG-1, is holding his third annual auction to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
In addition to the truly bizarre things (like the costume he wore for a college production of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”), you can also find SG-1 scripts and nifty signed things from all the Vancouver-area sci-fi productions.
