Neil Baker, aka the StarWars.com blogger nob01, is putting together a fan documentary called A Place in the Galaxy on the Star Wars blogging community. He’s recently launched a site for the project, and will be at CIV with camera in hand. In his own words:
The theme for the film is how communities grow and nurture their family members.
A Place in the Galaxy is a documentary examining the phenomenon of Star Wars and the nature of the fan community that has built up around it. The film will partly focus on the blogging and fan site community, and will investigate the relationships between fans, their common dreams, their personal stories and how the Star Wars saga has impacted their lives.
Buy art, you will. The last of the Celebration artists went up tonight: Kilian Plunkett, Adam Hughes, Randy Martinez and more!
Robot Chicken panel. Seth Green, Matt Senreich and some of their Robot Chicken crew will be on hand for (at least) two panels.
In other news, a copy of Making of Star Wars signed by George Lucas is up for auction by the Books for Kids Foundation.
About a three quarters through the latest Force-Cast, Steve Sansweet says “we’ve got a guy that we’re bringing in who is an expert on Indiana Jones – in fact he sort of is Indy himself, in a way,” Real archeologist-type or someone far more familiar to fans? We’ll just have to wait and see… However, he does promise that “this is very much a Star Wars convention,” so don’t fear an Indy takeover.
There are a couple less vague CIV scoops as well – skip forward to about halfway through the podcast to hear them.
For the big kids, Star Wars Laser Tag; for the little kids (and their parents) the Family Room.
Get your tickets now for A Conversation With Carrie Fisher at Celebration on Saturday.
Also, fans will also get a preview of the movie Fanboys and a panel discussion with the filmmakers, and a limited edition comic book that acts as a prequel to the film.
