Since we last checked in with Celebration Chicago, they’ve added even more guests, including OG Chewbacca Peter Mayhew, The Clone Wars/Rebels and Her Universe head Ashley Eckstein, and lots and lots of others. The second round of guests for Star Wars Celebration Chicago includes Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca 2.0), Sam Witwer (the voice of Darth Maul since The Clone Wars) and Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley in The Force Awakens).
They’re joined by Greg Proops (voice of TPM’s Fode, Resistance’s Jak Sivrak and Garma), puppeteer Dave Chapman, Paul Kasey (Admiral Raddus in Rogue One, Ello Asty in TFA), Orli Shoshan (Shaak Ti) and Ian McElhinney (General Dodonna in Rogue One).
They’ve also revealed the event’s poster, which is a bit… Crowded. Check it out under the cut.

And the first wave of Celebration guest announcements brings us a variety of voice actors: From Resistance, Christopher Sean, Suzie McGrath, and Scott Lawrence, who voice Kazuda Xiono, Tam Ryvora and Jarek Yeager. From The Clone Wars, there’s longtime Celebration vetern James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi). There’s also Battlefront II’s Janina Gavankar and Skywalker Sound’s Matthew Wood, who voiced General Grievous.

Warwick Davis is back as host of of the Celebration stage in Chicago next spring. It’s the same stage he hosted in 2017. The Celebration stage is generally the highest-profile stage at Celebrations, hosting celebrities and most of the larger events.

The author lineup for Celebration Chicago is growing, adding E.K. Johnston, Justina Ireland and Zoraida Córdova. They join an already impressive list which includes Timothy Zahn, Delilah Dawson, and Claudia Gray.
Gray and Johnston both have new Star Wars books coming out in the spring: Johnston’s Padme YA novel Queen’s Shadow is out March 5, while Gray’s Master and Apprentice is due April 16, just after the con, so we can likely expect a convention exclusive version.

David Collins and Amy Ratcliffe will return as stage hosts for Celebration Chicago, StarWars.com reports. This will be Collins’ sixth turn, and Ratcliffe’s third. They’re back at the Galaxy and Behind-the-Scenes stages, respectively.

Passes for Celebration Chicago went on sale Tuesday, and it doesn’t seem like the price increase has had any effect on demand. 5-day passes were sold out by Thursday morning, and 1-day passes for Saturday are 60% sold out..
Despite fan speculation, the amount of whole con passes hasn’t been limited since Orlando in 2017; The official Celebration account says they’re seeing “much higher demand” this time around. (It’s worth noting that there hasn’t been a Celebration in the Midwest since Celebration III in 2005, which was held in Indianapolis a month ahead of the release of Revenge of the Sith.)
It took months for those to sell out for Orlando in 2017; 4-days for Anaheim in 2015 sold out just before the con began. At this rate, the Celebration after this one is going to be like SDCC. (AKA: Utterly ridiculous.)
Hotel rooms have also been an issue, but keep checking back. I didn’t get anything Tuesday, but I managed to nab one Wednesday. Good luck!

Celebration Chicago details are up! The advance prices for a five-day pass are $215 for adult, $100 for child, and one-day adult passes are $75 each, with a $55.00 Thursday “Bounty Hunter” preview. The VIP Jedi Master pass will run $850.00.
The show is April 11-15, 2019 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. This is eighth domestic Celebration and the first time the con has been extended to five days.
The tickets will go on sale June 5 at noon. If this will be your first Celebration, fear not: The standard five-day passes likely won’t sell out right away, though the VIP tickets certainly will. (I still wouldn’t wait too long, though.)

The Midwest is getting a Celebration again and I could not be more surprised. The Star Wars Show today announced that 2019’s Celebration is not going back to Anaheim, as many of us expected, but instead to Chicago. McCormick Place, home of ReedPOP’s C2E2, will host the show on April 11-15, 2019.
Tickets will go on sale on June 5 at starwarscelebration.com.
This will be the 20th Anniversary of the con, and the 9th to be held domestically. The first Celebration was hosted in Denver ahead of The Phantom Menace in 1999, and from there the show headed to Indianapolis (twice), L.A., Orlando (thrice!) and Anaheim.
