These past weeks, we’ve seen robots launched at comets, a very Star Wars celebrity wedding, a bunch of Rebels episodes, and even the true meaning of Star Wars. Or something. Yeah.
Anthony Daniels implies Episode VII might surpass Empire
We all have hope that Episode VII will be good… But Anthony Daniels is certainly doing his part to rocket expectations sky-high.
Meanwhile, today saw two actors brand-new to Star Wars get some ink: Lupita Nyong’o is Glamour’s Woman of the Year, and Christina Chong talked about her Star Wars experience (somewhat) in the London Evening Standard.
Episode VII roundup: Stormtrooper-centric rumors/spoilers, and a #beardwatch update
Things continue to be slow…
→ The rumor/spoiler parade just doesn’t end at Making Star Wars: Do Han and Chewie go on a mission? Does a hero dress like a stormtrooper? And did a set spy get a picture of one of the new kinds of stormtroopers?
→ #Beardwatch! Mark Hamill still has his. Plus a doggy! Also on Instagram, John Boyega works out with buzzwords.
Radio silence: John Boyega deletes his Twitter, too
Daisy Ridley deleted hers this weekend, and now costar (and the cast’s most prolific Tweeter) John Boyega has joined in. His Instagram remains up – for the moment. Cue the conspiracy theories…
Cast tweets: It’s an Episode VII wrap for Anthony Daniels; Daisy Ridley deletes her account
Anthony Daniels tweeted last night that he’s wrapped his part on Episode VII. Meanwhile, several hours ago, Daisy Ridley posted a farewell and now her Twitter account (@ridley_daisy) is gone. Here’s the text of her last tweets, per Favstar:
happy Saturday folks. I am bowing out of twitter. I really appreciate all the support thus far and hope you LOVE the film!
it has been and continues to be an INCREDIBLE experience with the most amazing group of people, cast and crew. Big Star Wars love. #MTFBWY x
The deletion is fairly understandable on Ridley’s part, particularly given the amount of secrecy surrounding the production.
You can see some of Ridley’s tweets on the tweets tag on our Tumblr, as well as those of her costars. She was a charming figure on the service – hopefully she feels like she can return one day.
Several of the newer Star Wars cast members remain active on Twitter: John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, and Pip Andersen, plus mainstays Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Peter Mayhew. For the record: Don’t ask Episode VII cast (or crew) if they can confirm or deny rumors; You know very well they can’t.
Today in Episode VII (and such:) More production names; Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher interviews
→ Jedi News is replicating the Foodles magic to find two more newly registered productions: LUNAK HEAVY INDUSTRIES and SPACE BEAR INDUSTRIES. One is no doubt our first spin-off – is the other spin-off #2 or Episode VIII? Or something else entirely? Speculate away, my pretties!
→ Both Oscar Isaac and Carrie Fisher are in the press today, and they’re both talking (a bit) about Star Wars. Everyone’s jumping over Isaac’s ‘hundreds of stormtroopers’ line, but I think the other stuff he says is way more interesting. Carrie, of course, is Carrie.
→ BEARDWATCH: As of last week, we can report that Oscar Isaac is sporting only minimum scruff. BLONDEWATCH: Carrie Fisher is still blonde. We think.
→ J.J. Abrams will receive the Visual Effects Society’s Visionary Award in February.
→ Yearbook photos of Adam Driver prove he looked exactly like you’d expect Adam Driver to look like in high school.
Cast tweets: John Boyega and Lupita Nyong’o went to see Grace Jones
John Boyega and Lupita Nyong’o went to see Grace Jones. Jones is playing a festival in London this weekend; This is, I believe, our first sign that Nyong’o may be on set.
I spy: J.J. Abrams hinting from the Episode VII set again
A new hint from J.J… Or an Apple advertisement? In any case, something is very shiny. Could this be the new ‘planet’ Boyega was hinting at yesterday? (Or is that – bwah – turf. Imperial golf course?)
Well, at least he spared us puns.
John Boyega: Episode VII is filming a new planet today
John Boyega: Episode VII is filming a new planet today at Pinewood. That’s it. That’s all we know. Man, it’s slow.
Episode VII is filming again
Episode VII resumes filming after a brief hiatus, per some leading tweets from Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, not to mention Entertainment Weekly’s ‘sources.’
Overall, however, this week has basically been a complete news dud, with the only rumor being something particularly flimsy regarding Joseph Gordon Levitt. Meh.
