On the official site tonight, the cover and blurb for the first post-LOTF novel, James Luceno’s Millennium Falcon. Here’s the first part of the blurb – head on over to StarWars.com for the rest.
Two years have passed since the defeat of Darth Caedus, the former Jacen Solo. For a grieving Han and Leia, the shadow of their son’s tragic downfall still looms large. But Jacen’s own bright and loving daughter, Allana, offers a ray of hope for the future as she thrives in her grandparents’ care. The eager, inquisitive and Force-strong girl makes a curious discovery aboard her grandfather’s beloved spacecraft — the much-overhauled but ever-dependable Millennium Falcon. The Solo family then finds itself at a new turning point, about to set out on an odyssey into uncertain territory, untold adventure, and unexpected rewards.
A summary has reportedly appeared on the Science Fiction Book Club website and is available only to members, but someone at the Wookieepedia cut and pasted it.
VERIFIED: Paula logged into the SFBC and this is indeed the one they have posted.
The club writes their own summaries (check out the different Betrayal blurbs at SFBC and Random House) so it’s not too surprising that this is different from the last. (Which still hasn’t been confirmed – they’re keeping a tight lid on this one.)
NJOE spots yet another Fury summary. At least it’s on the Random House site so we don’t have to do the ‘real or BS’ dance. And yes, it’s reproduced beyond the cut. Beware of Sacrifice/Inferno spoilers, etc. etc.
This surfaced last week when I was embroiled in Darth Real Life. I didn’t blog it at the time because a) busy! and b) it seemed terribly generic and said absolutely nothing we all don’t know or could guess.
Then I read it again. That last bit? Hrm…
POSSIBLE LOTF SPOILERS / HIGHLIGHT TO READ:As Jacen struggles with the loss of many supporters and almost all his friends and loved ones in his bid to rule the galaxy, Luke must deal with grief and the guilt at having killed the wrong person in revenge. The leaders of both sides of the galactic civil war are increasingly losing control over their forces, the Jedi and their allies are hunting the wrong target as they seek to bring the unknown murderer to justice, and a hidden group of Sith have to figure out what to do about Jacen and their own secret agenda.
This about as unconfirmed as unconfirmed gets, and I’m deeply inclined to call bullshit. It was first reported by NJOE, which is currently down, and seems to have originated at Waterstone’s.
In his new mantle as Sith Lord, Jacen Solo’s dark powers reach a peak as he continues to crush opposition across the warring galaxy and bring his dream of a new order closer to fruition. But those who once fought at his side now turn against him, and as his unexpected enemies rally to the confederacy, Ben Skywalker discovers the full and terrible truth of how his mother died.
(Text contains Sacrifice spoilers – highlight to read.)
Sue also revealed that the publication date for the final Legacy of the Force book, Invincible, has been moved up to May 13, 2008.
NJOE has found what may be the publisher’s summary for Fury, the seventh Legacy of the Force novel coming out this November. The summary has not been verified by VIPs, but looks probable enough. It does contain spoilers for Inferno and Sacrifice, so head under the cut to read it.
