The new Battlestar Galactica episodes will begin in April. No word on the second half half of the season.
Preview BSG: Razor at the theatre
Well, if you live nearby Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle, or Chicago. Those are the cities that will be hosting free screenings of Battlestar Galactica: Razor on November 12th – more than a week before it debuts on the Sci-Fi Channel. Details – including how to get tickets and some mild spoilers – are available at the link.
Eureka! There’s a 3rd Season!
In all my Stargate Atlantis renewal euphoria, I failed to realize that the announcement in Variety also included news that Eureka was getting its third season, as well. More wackiness to come!
No word on Flash Gordon, but would anyone be terribly shocked if it didn’t get renewed? It’s been struggling. And no amount of Battlestar Galactica Razor teasing seems to be able to help it.
In other TV news, Pushing Daisies is blooming with happiness over its full season order. (Why, yes. I did have to go there. Look how much I’ve used the whole eureka thing.)
Video du Jour: Sci-Fi’s multiple personalities
The good: Battlestar Galactica season 4 preview. Have you accepted Baltar as your personal Jesus?
The bad: Tin Man trailer. DG? Yellow Brick Route? The O.Z? WTF?
Saturday afternoon sci-fi reading list
Entertainment Weekly has first looks at some of the fall’s hottest sci-fi TV: Heroes S2 and Battlestar Galactica: Razor.. Watch for falling spoilers…
And for those who’d rather look back, they’ve also listed their top ten Star Trek: TNG episodes.
More on the BSG season split
The exact dates for the inevitable Battlestar Galactica season split are still up the air.
“I know we’re planning on splitting the season in half, but I haven’t heard anything definitive about how the split is going to happen yet,” Mark Stern, executive vice president of original programming for Sci Fi Channel, said Tuesday.
Oh, Sci-Fi.
BSG news out of Dragon*Con
I’m not sure how many CJers actually made it into any of the Battlestar Galactica panels, but for those wondering what the big news was, SyFy Portal has a report: It seems that Jamie Bamber claimed that Sci-Fi’s plan right now is to split the next (and last!) season into two parts – and not airing the second until 2009. Seeing as how bad Sci-Fi is at learning their lessons when it comes to scheduling (among other things) it’s more than a little plausible.
Or it was all a joke. Okay… This is the Sci-Fi Channel we’re talking about, after all. (Thanks, Scoke!)
In a related personal anecdote, Helen and I figured out how to save BSG from being so relentlessly depressing – add a class clown. See, Wash didn’t die. He just fell through a wormhole and ended up on the Galactica. It could totally happen!
No KS for BSG
Apparently Kevin Smith’s quest to be the busiest man in geekdom has fallen apart.
SyFy Portal reports that the director was unable to make his schedule sync with the show’s production schedule.
Now who’s going to stick up for the contractors in the fleet?
TV News? A Jedi craves not these things
‘Tis the season for fun TV announcements. Is it the fall season yet?
– Ripper has supposedly passed one more small hurdle towards becoming reality
– Kevin Smith attempts to cover all branches of geekdom by directing an episode of Battlestar Galactica, an episode of Heroes: Origins, and the pilot for Reaper. Does the man ever sleep?
– David Tennant is staying with Dr. Who
– Genre actors get some props as scene-stealers
– And “Watch With Kristin” gets a sneak peek at some of the folks passing through the island on Lost
SciFi Fall Lineup Announced
Time to program those TiVo’s. SciFi has put their fall line-up out for the world to see.
Stargate Atlantis will be premiering on September 28th in the Friday, 10pm timeslot. Per GateWorld, they’re actually planning to (shocker) run the season all the way through. (Dare to dream that there won’t be a six-month, ratings-plummeting break between halves!)
Battlestar Galactica geeks can take some solace that although Razor won’t premiere until November 24th, “mini-sodes” will be airing during Flash Gordon. (Hey. They have to try and salvage that show somehow!)
