EUbits: The Clone Wars art book, Essential Atlas skips back again, Bohnhoff on Dash

First look: StarWars.com gives us a peek at The Art of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I continue to wince at the appropriation of McQuarrie art in the name of designs based on those awful puppets. (Not that people were exactly Ralph’s greatest either, but if one must choose…) Your mileage may vary, but this is probably one Art of I’ll be sitting out for.

The fandom minute: Morning crank edition

It’s art! Or not. No. Just no. Clone Wars character design, I know McQuarrie, and you sir are no McQuarrie. On the other hand, Christian Waggoner’s stuff is kinda cool.

Let them eat slime. This Jabba cake is appropriately disgusting yet totally hand-made. Pretty impressive.

Don’t strain yourself.Is Star Wars science fiction or fantasy? It’s sci-fantasy. Duh.

Listicles. Princess Leia is one of Yahoo’s lethal ladies; The prequels bottom out io9’s list of science fiction prequels, beating out even You-Know-Who’s Dune books on their scale of crappiness. Ouch.

Road trip! If you missed it, The Vader Project is now in Pittsburgh.

Eye candy: The lightsaber FIELD

io9 discovered the art project FIELD – 1301 fluorescent bulbs planted on a British farm, powered from above by power lines. Artist Richard Box was inspired by – what else? – tales of lightsaber games. The actual field, circa 2004, is long gone, but you can see more pictures at Box’s website.

Red Tails moving forward. We’ve got an update on George Lucas’ Tuskegee Airmen movie, namely that offers have gone out to actors Terence Howard, Andre Royo, Nate Parker, NeYo, David Oyelowo, Barry Pepper and Bryan Cranston.
People: Artist Cat Staggs getting some local coverage.
Licensees: Bioware is setting up a new team in Montreal, though only Mass Effect 2 gets namechecked.
