Today in The Force Unleashed: Record-breaker!

The big news is The Force Unleashed demo shattering Xbox Live records with more than a million downloads. Count in the Playstation Network and it comes out to 2.3 million. Not too shabby…

In the news: Star Wars lives on through games. Among other things… But certainly the games are where the interest is, at least online: The Secret Apprentice (under his spoilerific real name) has been among the most-visited pages on the Wookieepedia for a while now. (He’s currently #4, behind the main page, Anakin Skywalker, and lightsaber.) And those numbers don’t require a console.

Wishful thinking: The game isn’t even out yet, and IGN is obsessing over a sequel. If that’s a bit far-fetched for you, they also have a look back at the history of Star Wars games.

Poster artist Drew Struzan retiring?

TheRaider.net reports that the legendary artist is retiring from illustration to spend time with his family and work on his own paintings. Struzan is reponsible for several iconic Star Wars and Indiana Jones movie posters, and even a few book covers (and stamps!) not to mention Blade Runner, Harry Potter, Hellboy, Back to the Future and hundreds of other films. The Force Unleashed: Concept art of the damned

io9 got themselves a copy of The Art And Making Of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and share the delightful story of the Corpse Droid. Too dark for a Star Wars game, but I would totally be down with a Flash game or something. Come on, StarWars.com! You guys love Flash!

Okay, I kid. Still: Corpsey the droid. Totally inappropriate but so, so awesome in an Evil Dead sort of way.

(How about webisodes? Is Bruce Campbell busy? He can play Starkiller’s uncle! No? I’ll shut up now. Go enjoy the art.)

Grant Gould broke the news last night (at least online) that he, Tom Hodges, Katie Cook, and Jeff Carlisle will be working on a The Clone Wars web comic for StarWars.com to accompany the tv series. Hodges revealed more this morning on the TFN boards:

The quick version is each week, we’ll be given a story leading into that weeks episode. Now it could be a direct tie-in or peripherally connected from a distance because some episodes have story arcs not connected to each and every episode. Keep in mind, the series will not always be about Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme. It will flesh out characters we’ve only seen bits and pieces of.

This will also NOT be “web-strip” format. It will be full color, comic format and each story will be 5 pages in length.

More as we get it!
