Cast tweets: It’s an Episode VII wrap for Anthony Daniels; Daisy Ridley deletes her account

@ADaniels3PO: In today's golden hour, on a back lot in SE England, it was a wrap for me. Terminal, I hope, only in relation to Episode VII.Time will tell.

Anthony Daniels tweeted last night that he’s wrapped his part on Episode VII. Meanwhile, several hours ago, Daisy Ridley posted a farewell and now her Twitter account (@ridley_daisy) is gone. Here’s the text of her last tweets, per Favstar:

happy Saturday folks. I am bowing out of twitter. I really appreciate all the support thus far and hope you LOVE the film!

it has been and continues to be an INCREDIBLE experience with the most amazing group of people, cast and crew. Big Star Wars love. #MTFBWY x

The deletion is fairly understandable on Ridley’s part, particularly given the amount of secrecy surrounding the production.

You can see some of Ridley’s tweets on the tweets tag on our Tumblr, as well as those of her costars. She was a charming figure on the service – hopefully she feels like she can return one day.

Several of the newer Star Wars cast members remain active on Twitter: John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, and Pip Andersen, plus mainstays Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Peter Mayhew. For the record: Don’t ask Episode VII cast (or crew) if they can confirm or deny rumors; You know very well they can’t.

Anthony Daniels on Threepio’s past, present and future

Anthony-DanielsEntertainment Weekly has a nice interview with Anthony Daniels yesterday. They touch on Rebels, of course, but he also talks about the Episode VII Threepio suit:

I will tell you that the team then got together and built a new suit. They made an entirely new look-a-like with changes that you will never notice [on screen] that made my life a lot easier. I can get it on and off very quickly.

He ‘s also asked about Threepio’s growth, George’s involvement, and some other stuff. However, on a personal note, I really like this:

My favorite line is — interesting you ask least favorite — my favorite line is, [in character as C-3PO] “We’re doomed.” It’s a phrase that encapsulates his whole philosophy. It’s his life. He always feels on the edge of disaster. That’s where the humor comes from because he is a humorous character, but mostly it comes by default. He doesn’t tell jokes. He’s just wrong about everything most of the time and lives on this precipice of fear, which gives a sort of tension. You and I hide that. You hid magnificently that you were terrified of talking to me. As humans, adults, we sort of do. He doesn’t have that guile. And in fact, now that I come to think of it, he is pretty much without guile. He says it as it is and that can occasionally be quite funny because he can be inappropriate without meaning to be.

That’s Threepio, yes. But it’s also, in so many ways, us, the fandom. He’s ‘our’ avatar, in a lot of ways. Particularly in times like these.

Doggies! Dispatches from the Episode VII cast

@ridley_daisy: tingly Tuesday... Cause I'm home with my doggy! @JBoyega forehead shot especially for you BABOOM
Looks like Ridley and John Boyega are getting along…

Two weeks worth of tweets to catch up on here (and yes, the other one in a few days) so let’s just get to it… Oh, and in case you haven’t heard, Simon @Kinberg has joined the fun!

Though I will skip all the World Cup tweets, because we’re not that kind of blog, sweetheart.

Welcome to the madhouse: Dispatches from the Episode VII cast

The latest cast members make their debut (to us, anyway.)

Below the cut, John Boyega is no doubt happy to have two less secrets to keep, someone is now verified, and Bad Robot goes to the Eye. (Oh, and don’t forget J.J. Abrams’ master trolling.)

Episode VII cast confirmed: Hamill, Ford, Fisher joined by Boyega, Driver, Isaac, Serkis and more

star-wars-episode-7-cast-announce2

StarWars.com has announced the official cast for Episode VII. Star Wars alumni Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker will be joined by John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

That is… A lot of guys. Sigh. The Wrap has a bit more on our new lady, Daisy Ridley, while The Hollywood Reporter has a breakdown of all the new-to-us folks.

And that second new female role? They may still be looking, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Roundup: Clone Wars, Rebels, rumors and Threepio, oh my!

FiloniCartoons. Dave Filoni chats with both IGN and StarWars.com about Star Wars cartoons past and present. Mostly The Clone Wars, of course, given the new releases.

Dueling rumors. Jedi News’ Jedi Master SQL says that with John Williams only contracted for movies, J.J. Abrams himself may compose the Rebels theme. But Making Star Wars says it will be Williams doing the theme – and something for at least one other TV show. All-righty then. UPDATE: Michael Giacchino also in the mix?

Podcasting. On that note, Full of Sith’s latest Rumor Control is out, and I’m proud to have joined regulars Bryan Young and Bobby Roberts to chat Rebels (we taped this just hours after the NYCC reveals) and the latest Episode VII news and rumors.

Alumni. Anthony Daniels teased fans about C-3PO appearing in Episode VII, per Business Insider Australia, while Disney themselves teased that the droids would “presumably” return at D23 Expo Japan. Confirmation? Not really, but it’s probably a fairly safe assumption to make.

NYCC: Star Wars at New York Comic Con

nycc-logo-2013-loThis weekend is New York Comic Con, and Star Wars will be out in full force – even more than their presence at San Diego Comic-Con back in July. From October 10 – 13, the Javits Center in New York City will be wall-to-wall fandom, and topping it off for Star Wars fans will be Pablo Hidalgo’s panel on Rebels on Saturday at 2:45 pm. On Tuesday, @StarWars warned that there will be a giveaway item at the Rebels panel – some sort of Imperial propaganda.

Del Rey announced their lineup of authors doing signings at their Star Wars Books booth (and free book giveaways), with John Jackson Miller, Drew Karpyshyn, J. W. Rinzler, Ryder Windham, Jason Fry, and Chris Reiff making appearances.

Rooqoo Depot has a great listing of more Star Wars goings-on, including a list of the Star Wars panels (Anthony Daniels! Origami! Making of Return of the Jedi!), as well as booth signings for DK Books and Dark Horse Comics.

Hallmark-2013-NYCC-RancorFor those looking for exclusive merchandise, Hallmark has a Rancor ornament, Kotobukiya has an R2-Q5 ARTFX+ Statue, and Dark Horse has a NYCC sketch cover variant for The Star Wars #1. Her Universe will be selling at the official Reed Pop store.
