The Force Awakens evening report: Oscar Isaac geeks out on actually getting to talk a little about Star Wars

tfa-ss-isaac327→ Oscar Isaac talks about The Force Awakens trailer to MTV’s Josh Horowitz. No reveals of course, but I’m sure it’s a relief to have SOMETHING out there.

→ A rumor that got lost in the trailer shuffle: Does Andy Serkis play multiple roles?

→ On that note, Making Star Wars has the reasoning behind certain large objects we saw in certain leaked photos several months back. (…If only they’d been in the trailer…) Also, when does Oscar Isaac’s character come in? If you’ve been following the rumors, this answer may surprise you…

→ Jason also found a stormtrooper.

This weekend in Episode VII: Wrap party!

artoo-boyega-wrapAlthough there are some rumblings that filming isn’t quite done for all, Saturday night was the wrap party for Episode VII. John Boyega posted a photo with Artoo and a video to his Instagram, and later shared another from the party. Naturally, the paparazzi were there. (Yes, Simon Pegg was there, so get ready for another round of ‘does he have a role?!?‘)

And you can get a closer look at the Artoo – presumably the same one used during the filmng – at Indie Revolver.

Today in Episode VII: Daisy Ridley listed as lead

Daisy RidleyDaisy Ridley’s agent lists her as a lead for Episode VII, surprisingly absolutely no one except maybe the fan poster-makers who stick her in some out-of-the-way corner. (via)

→ In Brit tabloid reportage, the Daily Star claims that Domhnall Gleeson told model Cara Delevingne that there are plenty of parts left to be cast. Uh-huh.

→ On that note, Tom Cruise’s rep has denied he’ll appear in Star Wars as ‘reported’ earlier this week, because duh.

→ Beardwatch! Andy Serkis talked Episode VII secrecy on Conan. His haircut situation is awfully interesting.

Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis talk Episode VII; Who stole Simon Pegg’s parking space?

A few Episode VII tidbits floating around lately: Oscar Isaac said recently that he starts shooting at the end of May, while Andy Serkis has praised the cast and script:

“It’s a wonderful, wonderful cast, really beautiful director, great atmosphere… Star Wars was my childhood, so it’s fantastic,” he said.

The 50-year-old also said security around the script is “very tight”.

He added: “You can’t wander off with it.”

He also called Daisy Ridley “an amazing choice.” (via)

Meanwhile, at Elsetree, a familiar name has apparently stolen Simon Pegg’s parking space.

Analysis: Thoughts on the Episode VII cast

cast-daisyA few days late on this, perhaps, but this has been quite a slog, hasn’t it? In any case, we have our cast – or at least the better part of it.

In short, there are a lot of interesting possibilities here for everyone, and while many of us may have qualms about the gender diversity of the overall group, you certainly can’t say any of them are boring.

Let’s see what we can unpack here.

And yes, of course I’m guessing. Aren’t we all?

Episode VII cast confirmed: Hamill, Ford, Fisher joined by Boyega, Driver, Isaac, Serkis and more

star-wars-episode-7-cast-announce2

StarWars.com has announced the official cast for Episode VII. Star Wars alumni Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker will be joined by John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

That is… A lot of guys. Sigh. The Wrap has a bit more on our new lady, Daisy Ridley, while The Hollywood Reporter has a breakdown of all the new-to-us folks.

And that second new female role? They may still be looking, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Rumors: Is Andy Serkis in the Episode VII cast?

STAR WARS RUMORS: Take seriously at your own risk.We now have photographic proof that Carrie Fisher is in London, thanks to the Daily Mail. Meanwhile, The List is reporting that several cast members met with J.J. Abrams for a top secret ” bonding session” at a London restaurant. In addition to naming expected alumni Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew (no Hamill? Daniels?) they also namedropped Adam Driver and… Andy Serkis? The Lord of the Rings actor hasn’t figured into any rumors, but stranger things have happened, and he is Hollywood’s #1 mo-cap guy. (Of course, he could also just be there to offer advice… I doubt we’re going to see a Star Wars film in the post-Gollum age that includes exactly zero motion capture.)

In any case, if yesterday’s table read rumors are true, they can’t expect to keep things secret that much longer…
