Rumor: Star Tours will stop mixing (some) eras

The Disney ride Star Tours is going to split off the sequel-era content from the stuff based around the first two trilogies, WDW News Today reports.

It’s official that the new Crait level based on The Last Jedi is debuting on November 17 at the U.S. parks. 2015’s Jakku level was a guaranteed experience for some time after it’s debut, and it seems likely that will happen with Crait as well.

But guests will be given a choice between the sequel and “classic” tracks “somewhere in the timeframe of 6-12 months” after Crait’s debut, WDWNT says.

There have only been the two world additions to Star Tours since the 2011 refresh, which added the randomized journeys. The ride currently also features Hoth, Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Coruscant, Naboo, and the Death Star at Geonosis.

I don’t think this is all that bad an idea, at least for a limited period. It’s a bit frustrating to go on Star Tours and not see the newest content, particularly as the ride is sure to get a new surge of visitors (and longer lines) with the upcoming Galaxy’s Edge expansions. I don’t think it’s necessarily going to be permanent, particularly as a new world is sure to be added for Episode IX. (At least.) Still, we’ll see if this rumor even pans out.
