The date was also part of an earlier rumor, but Cosmic Book News claims that a second source has collaborated the date.
A May 29 release does put a few weeks time between the release of Episode VII and The Avengers 2, which is currently set for May 1 that year. And other studios are certainly planning like that’s the case, although a May release date for a Star Wars movie is always a pretty safe assumption.
While we’re on the topic of The Avengers sequels, Marvel confirmed yesterday that Robert Downey Jr. will be back as Tony Stark for The Avengers 2 and 3, and they took a page from Lucasfilm’s book to do it.
It certainly sounds like a reasonable date. But even if that’s chosen as a date, they sometimes move around, based on who’s getting what out when.
And hooray! I’m glad that RDJ will still be with us for future installments. He owns Tony Stark, right now.
Not to question your math, but wouldn’t they try to do the old Star Wars release thing and move the release date to the week before Memorial Day, i.e. before May 25th? Obviously I know no more than anyone, but my guess is that Episode VII will hit on May 20th/May 21st.
It’s not my math, guess away. ;)
I think Christmas 2015 would make sense.
They would never have the movie released in December. All of the Star Wars movies have been released in May. I seriously doubt that tradition is going to be broken.
May 2015 sounds like an awesome time for a new Star Wars movie release!
