A Dutch fansite (in English) noticed that there’s a December 31 date for the 3D Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith at a movie theater chain in the Netherlands. Are these indeed new dates – the rereleases were “postponed” almost a year ago – or just leftover listings from before the plug got pulled? I’m not counting on anything…

Actually, we called the cinema chain and asked them for confirmation. We specifically asked if this was an official date and not something else, like for example a leftover listing. But I guess that got lost in the Google translation. ;)
Ahh, I see it. “We contacted Pathé and they were able to tell that it is indeed this is an official date us.”
Still rather skeptical, but hey.
Oh, I totally agree. Even though they were absolutely sure about the info, I’ll believe it if and when Disney / Lucasfilm confirms it.
Why not?
Make it a short/limited run and i’ll be a content old man.
My bet is on leftover, but I wouldn’t mind some Star Wars for christmas (though I’d rather re-watch the Clone Wars movie than sit through “I like sand” and “I’m good, I’m bad, I’m sad” again *cough*).
BTW: Does anybody know what the legal, i.e. distributing situation looks like now? Fox apparently still has some rights regarding ANH, but what about the other five?
Fox has rights to all of them through 2020 and just ANH after that.
“I’m good, I’m bad, I’m sad?”
@Zannah: Also known as Revenge of the Sith. First he’s a hero, then – for some reason that I still don’t get – he’s a “villain” and then, not after murdering some kids but after killing Nute Gunray of all people, he crys a little… Nope, don’t need to see that again.
@Dunc: Ah, thanks! I knew that at some point. I think. Anyway: If Fox still owns those rights, why should Disney let them make money off of them? Unless they have indeed made a deal to get the ANH rights and letting Fox re-release Star Wars one last time is their way of paying them off.
Ah, speculation… ;-)
