Real Men Love the Fifth Element?

Multipass! Not just men… The more I see it, the more I realize that The Fifth Element is really one of the most underrated post-SW sci-fi movies. And it’s now ten years old! So much was made of The Matrix as the ‘heir to Star Wars,’ but TFE is the movie that truly captured the ‘sci-fi is fun!’ aesthetic of A New Hope. (And it didn’t even need sequels!)

And also, Bruce Willis getting his shit wrecked by Ian Holm is indeed awesome.

  1. I love The Fifth Element. On the surface, it looks really stupid and campy. But it’s great sci-fi and has such a heart to it.

Of course, I never tire of listening to the Diva. Amazing music!

  2. Gah! She’s following me!

I don’t know why, but for the past few days, every time I hear a word starting with “multi-,” a Leeloo within my head has merrily chimed in with “multipass!”

And now, she’s here, displaying it!

I miss the good old days, when only *songs* got stuck in my head.

Anyway . . . egads, it’s been ten years now? I need to get me a cane, Dunc.

  3. the fifth element truly was the ‘star wars of the 90s’ as the ads purported it to be. awesome movie, great visuals of a future. the music of the diva was inspiring, and the blend of action and comedy was just right. why don’t i own a copy of this?
