io9 features Star Wars in two nearly back-to-back items today. First, Revenge of the Sith in a list of explodiest outer space crashes, complete with the sort of ripping on Hayden Christenson’s acting that’s sure to get some of the more finicky fangirl panties in a bind. Then, credits make an appearance in the alien money feature.

- What? Rob Zombie to direct new Conan?
- Eye Candy: In the Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue, modern stars pay tribute to Hitchcock.
T-shirt gives it the old college try
There’s a new Star Wars tee concept up for vote at Threadless. It’d make a cute Livejournal icon, but as a t-shirt, particularly a Threadless one, I’m left a little cold. And the font is wrong. (via)
GET OFF MY PLANE!
The Los Angeles Times has Real lessons from fake presidents, including words of wisdom from Laura Roslin and (naturally) Harrison Ford.
Elsewhere, Roslin fans can show their support with this nifty t-shirt.
Once more, with a ballet slipper
Not content to stick to just one medium, Joss Whedon is working on a ballet for Summer Glau, he told IESB. Currently on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Summer has used her dancing talents in Joss’ work twice: during an episode of Angel called Waiting in the Wings and for her fight scene in the movie Serenity.
For those wondering what a Hollywood writer is doing writing music, check out Once More, With Feeling; the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (via)
Gate Geek – The Trio on to Midway
A few items of interest for those of the Gate persuasion:
- Tonight’s episode is Trio. There is, as always, a preview on the official site, as well as GateWorld’s compilation of all the little tidbits they can find. (Here there be spoilers.)
- SciFi’s Stargate blog couldn’t actually talk to either Martin Gero or Martin Wood (always a fun combination of writer and director), so they snuck into the DVD editing suite and previewed the feature on Trio coming up for the Season 4 DVD.
- Moving on to another episode, GateWorld managed to get a sneak preview scene for Midway; that features the appearance of a beloved SG1 character. (It does give away some of the basic storyline, if that concerns you. But in a less major story development, I can tell you that I also prefer tater tots.)
Invoking the name
The folks over at Lightsabre have interviewed one of our favorite people, Lucasfilm’s Mary Franklin. Her Bossk collection is indeed as mighty as can be imagined! And also she made me blush.
Upcoming releases: Street dates!
The Random House site has added dates for the following releases:
- August 26 – Coruscant Nights #2: Street of Shadows by Michael Reaves (PB)
- September 30 – Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor by Matthew Stover (HC)
- October 28 – Coruscant Nights #3: Patterns of the Force by Michael Reaves (PB)
As we learned last time, nothing is set in stone, but you’re probably safe penciling these dates in. Don’t forget, our Star Wars book release schedule is always available in the sidebar.
It’s official: Expect Indy IV trailer for Valentine’s
Variety confirms the rumors: the teaser trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will debut February 14th. It’s attached to The Spiderwick Chronicles, but expect it on the web in short order.
Inside the beast
StarWars.com has a brief Q&A with Vanity Fair Contributing Editor Frank DiGiacomo about The Force Unleashed article he penned for the magazine.
