The Clone Wars audience continues to grow

Turner has released its recent viewership for its different cable channels, including Cartoon Network, and no surprise that The Clone Wars continues to grow in its audience.

Compared to this time last year, the show, TCW has increased its hold of kids 6-11 by 34%, but has really grown in the 9-14 age range, by 83%. No word on how many adults are also watching, although I do feel the urge to buy more Nerf and Lego toys while eating Fruity Pebbles. Last week’s overall viewership according to other reports is 1.8 million viewers, beating out other Friday night cable fare as Merlin, The Soup, and Say Yes to the Dress, tying one ESPN NBA game broadcast but losing to two Disney channel shows and a later NBA game.

EUbits: When the Sith are away…

Sith check. Paul S. Kemp’s Old Republic novel, Decieved, drops two weeks from today, so naturally there’s a book trailer.

Kemp has been making the rounds: He appeared on TOR-Talk and an interview with Fictional Frontiers will surely be appearing soonish. And those audiobooks he was giving away last time? The winners are up.

Weird facts. Who’s written the most Star Wars (adult) novels? The answer may surprise you.

Recently… John Jackson Miller has Knight Errant novel answers.

Details, details. Dan Wallace on how the trade paperback Jedi Path will differ from the fancy box version. The answers will… Probably not surprise you.

Interview. There’s not a whole lot of Star Wars talk here , but if anyone deserves a link without that pesky fact, it’s our pal Mike Stackpole.

Out this week: At War with the Empire omnibus

We’re down on books for a couple of weeks, but there will be a new comic omnibus waiting in the stores on Wednesday. Volume 1 of At War with the Empire collects several early issues of Empire, including the 88-page story ‘Betrayal.’

Also on the shipping list is a reprint of Tom Taylor’s Luke Skywalker and the Treasure of the Dragonsnakes digest. It was first released a year ago, and my comic store still had copies as of last week, but if you’ve been waiting, well, there you go.

Start your crafting! The Craft-athlon has begun…

Potholders?!“It’s away!” The Club Jade Craft-athlon has now started. Our craft-making contest has five events to challenge your makery skills. Will you come up with the coolest Star Wars character ever made out of a toilet paper roll? or the finest craft item that utilizes an old Star Wars t-shirt? or turn an old cereal box into a Star Destroyer?

To help celebrate the March 29 release of The Star Wars Craft Book by Bonnie Burton, we’re hosting this no-holds-barred competition of mad making and cunning crafting. Build your craft items, send us the photos, and we’ll award some winners. What can you win? Del Rey is providing some awesome loot, including copies of the new do-it-yourself guide to Star Wars crafts, and the grand prize winner will also get a signed copy of The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.

Get the full scoop on the events, rules, submission guidelines and deadlines at the Club Jade Craft-athlon rules page. And then get busy!

The fandom minute: Pay tribute to Sansweet

The StarWars.com folks need our help. They’re creating a retrospective of fan photos with Steve Sansweet. (You know you’ve got ’em.) It’s as simple as finding and/or scanning your pictures, uploading them to your (free) Flickr account, and adding them to the group Steve Sansweet & You.

Speaking of Steve… He featured a Jader creation as one of his Facebook picks of the week: Chris Cassidy’s Tickle Me Emperor.

Customs. Sillof’s latest action figure set reimagines Star Wars in the old west. Cowboys! Indians! Bartenders!

Fun on Hoth. The snow here in Detroit is melting as I type, but a few weeks back we had more than enough for Sweet Juniper’s Jim and his kids to create a snow wampa and taun taun.

Ask Metafilter. Why is Boba Fett so popular? I don’t know or particularly care, but I’ll hazard one guess: Fanboys.

Crafty corner. The Han in Carbonite throw pillow.

The Clone Wars review: ‘The Citadel’

The problem with the whole “Secrets Revealed” idea is that the marketing campaign feels compelled to reveals all the secrets before the show gets a chance.  This episode is a good example – the late introduction of Captain Tarkin was clearly supposed to be a surprise, a sudden twist that makes the story seem much more important… at least for us old-school fans.  (Despite everything I hear about The Clone Wars being the only Star Wars kids know – and it’s true, if my daughter and nephews are any indication – this season proves that the writing staff also cares about the older demographic.  The past seven episodes, for example, only make sense if you’ve seen the movies and read some EU.)  But because the Cartoon Network promos decided to spotlight Tarkin, and the news broke online even before that, it wasn’t so much of a Big Reveal as a Big Wait For The Reveal. “I thought you knew that, Ken:” A disturbing look back at the Jedi Prince series

Dark greetings, my little mookas! Feast your third eye on this: Topless Robot has mined one of the early Expanded Universe’s proudest moments for a list of the ten crappiest aspects of the Jedi Prince series. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll boggle that some of us actually spent money on this crap.

Personal aside: To this day I can’t see the title Mission from Mount Yoda as anything but Mission to Mount Yoda, thanks to a certain founding member of Club Jade.
