Well, that was quick. (Also, big thumbs-up for ‘Smooth Criminal’ cover.)
Ian McDiarmid is coming to Celebration VI
Ian McDiarmid, aka Emperor Palpatine, will be making his first appearance at a U.S. Celebration in Orlando this August. He’ll appear on stage and, yes, in the autograph farm.
In other recent Celebration news, there will be a special focus on the Mos Eisley Cantina with professional sculptor and effects artist Tom Spina, who will join Pablo Hidalgo for a panel. Also: Star Tours’ Visual Effects Supervisor Bill George, a Collector’s Showcase, and, apparently, maybe, kids birthday parties? Alrighty then.

In other Her Universe news, Ashley said on Twitter that the company “two major surprises at the end of June about NEW merchandise for two major franchises.” Two new franchises? We’ll be waiting!
EUbits: Can Del Rey take a hint from Legend of Korra?
The blogside. We’re still seeing bits of fallout from last week’s highly impassioned discussion on gender and the EU. This week, Brian at Tosche Station takes a look at the success of Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra and what Star Wars could learn from it.
Another thing that might be worth checking out, for anyone out there who was a little confused by all the fuss, is John Scalzi’s recent post Straight White Male: The Lowest Difficulty Setting There Is. He also wrote a follow-up piece today, addressing some of the common questions and concerns.
Meanwhile… Drew Karpyshyn shares some details on The Old Republic: Annihilation, including IDing the book’s protagonist.
Reference. Yes, there are still more endnotes to The Essential Guide to Warfare. How many of these are there going to be?
Nonfiction. Master Optician at Knights Archive found a listing for the book Star Wars and History by Nancy Reagin and Janice Liedl. It follows similar books by Reagin on Twilight and Harry Potter. Random House’s own Glittering Images: A Journey Through Art from Egypt to Star Wars, by Camille Paglia, has gained a cover and a blurb which reveals that Paglia calls George Lucas “the world’s greatest living artist.”
Reviews. James takes a look at Knights of the Old Republic: War #5 and the Star Wars/Serenity Free Comic Book Day book.
Ten years of Attack of the Clones

In the meantime: What are your Attack of the Clones memories?
Everybody loves @Bonniegrrl: Last week’s best #StarWars and #SWEU tweets
Knowing that @bonniegrrl isn’t behind @starwars anymore is sad. I still love you Star Wars, but you broke my damn heart. #teambonnie
— Ryan Penagos (@Agent_M) May 7, 2012
When the news broke Monday that Lucasfilm has laid off Bonnie Burton, the denizens of Twitter had plenty to say… And I’m only scratching the surface here.
Why would Lucasfilm lay off @bonniegrrl, the person who best understood their revenue source and loyal fanbase? They just lost cool points.
— Gary O’Brien (@dpamac) May 7, 2012
@StarWars I’m really happy for you, and Ima let you finish, but @bonniegrrl was the best voice of @StarWars social media of all time!
— Rob Sheridan (@rob_sheridan) May 8, 2012
Lucasfilm lays off the best they EVER had at fan interaction – their “community” is worth a whole HELL of a lot less w/out @bonniegrrl
— Bobby (@FatboyRoberts) May 7, 2012
The only thing that would get me back on Twitter while still booged down in a book is the wonderful and wondrous @bonniegrrl. Good luck!

More Bonnie love – plus all that other stuff we usually do – below the cut. Continue reading “Everybody loves @Bonniegrrl: Last week’s best #StarWars and #SWEU tweets”
