The Phantom Menace panel set for Monday at Celebration

A twentieth-anniversary panel for The Phantom Menace has been announced for the final day of Celebration which is – coincidentally, I’m sure – the only day that passes are still available for.

Meanwhile, on StarWars.com, the guest list is still growing. Today’s additions are headlined by Billy Dee Williams and Alan Tudyk. Joining them are Rebels’ Freddie Prinze Jr. and Taylor Gray (Kanan and Ezra), our old pal John “DAK!” Morton, ANH stormtrooper Anthony Forrest, Julian Glover (General Veers) and Michael Culver (Captain Needa).

Star Wars Celebration is being held from April 11-15, 2019, at Chicago’s McCormick Place. This will be the ninth domestic version of the con; the very first Celebration was held in Denver ahead of The Phantom Menace’s release in 1999.

Lost races, lost racers in Resistance’s ‘The Disappeared’

The First Order’s presence on the Colossus continues to ramp up in Sunday’s ‘The Disappeared,’ the next episode of Star Wars Resistance.

The First Order presence is affecting life on the platform – big races are being cancelled and platformers are mysteriously disappearing. Kaz and Torra manage to successfully free the First Order prisoners, but don’t realize that their actions have put Team Fireball in a compromising position.

Did Hype Fazon really leave the platform? Who else is missing? Hints and more in the clip and photos below the cut.

Episode IX wraps, Abrams shares a cast hug

As Episode IX wraps filming, director J.J. Abrams shares his second set shot from the film – and this time, it’s in focus! Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac – in costume – share a hug on location – presumably Jordan.

“It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX,” the tweet says. “There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all.”

Up for another Episode IX trailer rumor?

If not, too bad: we’ve got a pair of big Episode IX rumors out of Fantha Tracks today. The first? A “major UK cinema chain” might have received an IX trailer. Will we get a teaser of some sort with the title reveal? Will we get anything at all before Celebration in April? One way or another, we’ll hopefully find out soon. Or not.

Secondly, and more spoilery, there’s a potential new look for the Millennium Falcon.

Rian Johnson didn’t drop his Star Wars trilogy

A rumor was circulating yesterday that The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson had dropped out of his upcoming standalone Star Wars trilogy, until Johnson himself chimed in. “No it isn’t true,” he tweeted late Wednesday night. “I’m still working on the trilogy. With all due respect to the movie bros, who I’m sure are lovely kind bros with good fraternal intentions.”

Johnson has been a frequent target of some less savory parts of the fandom who have been unusually irate about The Last Jedi.

The trilogy, which was announced before Jedi‘s release, has no release date, script, or cast yet, which isn’t particularly concerning: Lucasfilm hasn’t said much about any film projects beyond Episode IX. A second set of non-saga films is in the hands of Game of Thrones‘ David Benioff and D.B. Weiss – rumor has it that at least one of theirs will go into production before Johnson’s.

Johnson is currently doing post-production on Knives Out, a murder mystery starring Daniel Craig.

Star Wars Resistance heads to the Unknown Regions

Poe’s back as things continue to go downhill for Kaz, Team Fireball and the Colossus in ‘The Core Problem’, Sunday’s new episode of Star Wars Resistance. This time, they’re off to explore the Unknown Regions, because that’s something that has historically gone very well in this galaxy.

Poe and Kaz seek out an area of the Unknown Regions that their intel on the First Order is pointing to. After the unsettling discovery of multiple cored and broken planets, they must evade a series of First Order pilots in order to make it back alive.

The clip also reveals just how close the series has gotten to The Force Awakens. Check it out, plus more pics, under the cut.

The Art of Star Wars Rebels arrives in October

This has been bouncing around fandom for a few days, but here it is, officially: The Art of Star Wars Rebels is coming out in October. The hardcover is written by Dan Wallace and “will chronicle the making of the show over its four-season run, complete with never-before-seen concept art and process pieces.” It will include commentary from Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, Carrie Beck and others, and is already up for preorder.

For the time being, there’s plenty of behind the scenes content in the series guide on StarWars.com, including the above, a lighting concept by Molly Denmark for the series finale.

The Force Awakens comes to ABC on Sunday

The Force Awakens will debut on network TV this coming Sunday (February 17) airing at 8:00/7:00 p.m. on (where else) ABC.

This has no effect the TBS/TNT deal, which is for basic cable rights, not broadcast – The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and the first two trilogies will continue to air there as well.
