Why the Emperor’s Hands need to be in Rebels. Nanci at Tosche Station lays out why she thinks the role should make the jump from Legends. I mostly agree, but I don’t think the actual title is necessary. But between the Inquisitor and Asajj Ventress, there’s certainly plenty of precedent in canon – even if the concept of Emperor’s Hand actually predates both of them.
Marvel acknowledges their goofy Star Wars past with yet another variant cover
Marvel acknowledges their goofy Star Wars past with yet another variant cover. You knew we weren’t going to get through this without seeing Jaxxon…
Out this week: James Luceno takes on Tarkin
Today, of course, sees the release of James Luceno’s Tarkin, our final novel for the year. If you’re on the fence, you can read the first fifty pages now, or Tosche Station has a Go/No Go.
The book seems to be receiving good reviews from the sort of folks who would enjoy a Luceno novel about Tarkin, but not being one of them, I shall abstain. I do, however, find that Mike Cooper’s review squares pretty well with my past experience of the author.
As for Wednesday, we even have a Dark Horse hardcover, the Dark Times Gallery Edition.
Rebels Recon: ‘Breaking Ranks’
Ezra goes undercover at Lothal’s Imperial Academy in tonight’s ‘Breaking Ranks.’ The video gives us a look behind the scenes, and Pablo Hidalgo answers (sort of) a question about last week’s episode. Plus a preview of next week’s Hera and Sabine-centric episode.
See the weird, wild design for George Lucas’ museum
The design for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art was unveiled today, and it certainly isn’t boring! The ‘floating’ disc on top will be an observation deck, while the interior will feature “three levels of exhibition space in infinite loops.”
The Lucas Museum website will have a live webcam to document the construction.
Anthony Daniels implies Episode VII might surpass Empire
We all have hope that Episode VII will be good… But Anthony Daniels is certainly doing his part to rocket expectations sky-high.
Meanwhile, today saw two actors brand-new to Star Wars get some ink: Lupita Nyong’o is Glamour’s Woman of the Year, and Christina Chong talked about her Star Wars experience (somewhat) in the London Evening Standard.
This weekend in Episode VII: Wrap party!
Although there are some rumblings that filming isn’t quite done for all, Saturday night was the wrap party for Episode VII. John Boyega posted a photo with Artoo and a video to his Instagram, and later shared another from the party. Naturally, the paparazzi were there. (Yes, Simon Pegg was there, so get ready for another round of ‘does he have a role?!?‘)
And you can get a closer look at the Artoo – presumably the same one used during the filmng – at Indie Revolver.
Episode VII filming wraps up for some cast and crew
Well, if the beard wasn’t sign enough, we now have even more proof that filming on Episode VII is wrapping up: A goodbye letter to cast and crew:

You can just see, in the very top of the picture, the VII hat that we’ve seen around before.
Of course, we knew this was inevitable, as it’s been two weeks since we last heard from Kathleen Kennedy, but it’s sad to see the proof rolling in.
…And then there’s Carrie Fisher. Is #blondewatch still a go?
Just realized it’s Halloween meaning I’ve been in costume all day & didn’t get any treats. Thoughts? I’m all ears, even my ass is an ear.

Episode VII roundup: And now #beardwatch has ended
→ Mark Hamill is still in the U.K., but the beard is gone. The beard is no more. #Beardwatch is dead. Long live #beardwatch!
→ John Boyega and Daisy Ridley make Vulture’s list of future stars to watch out for.
→ We still have plenty of rumors, though. Making Star Wars describes concept art of our young heroine, a new droid, and some thoughts involving the Arndt draft.
David Eckstein, Her Universe profiled in Fortune
The framing of this Fortune story on David Eckstein and Her Universe seemed odd, until I realized it’s part of a series (in collaboration with Sports Illustrated) that profiles athletes who’ve moved into business careers. In any case, we learn a few things about HU: that they expect to bring in $5 million in sales this year, and the company is profitable. Phew. (via)
