Marvel’s Darth Vader ongoing to end in August

The Darth Vader comic will end with #25, Marvel announced at IGN today. The ongoing by writer Kieron Gillen and artist Salvador Larroca debuted with the company’s 2015 relaunch of the Star Wars comic line.

“It was a situation where, you know, we’ve always said all the way through, from Darth Vader #1, that this was a story with a beginning, a middle and an end,” Gillen said. “And we kind of looked where we were after Vader Down, and we realized we were probably actually nearer to the end than we thought we were.”

Marvel has three ongoing Star Wars titles at the moment, with Star Wars and Poe Dameron (which replaced Kanan) being the other two. The end of Vader means we’ll likely see another soon.

This week in The Force Awakens: Finding the voice of Nien Nunb

NienNunbChristian Simpson on the search for the original voice of Nien Nunb, Kipsang Rotich, on StarWars.com in two parts. Spoiler: They find him, and he reprises the character’s voice in The Force Awakens.

‘The Star Wars Show’ is your new Wednesday addiction

The Star Wars Show

Hosted by StarWars.com’s Andi Gutierrez and Peter Townley, ‘The Star Wars Show’ will appear every Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. PT. (3:00 p.m. ET.) It will cover a wide variety of Star Wars news and stories from across the franchise.


In the inaugural episode, they talk to World of Warcraft director Duncan Jones, recap Star Wars Day, and show some extra scenes from Maz’s castle in The Force Awakens.

Kathleen Kennedy, Rogue One’s Gareth Edwards and ‘special guests’ to headline Celebration Europe

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Rogue One director Gareth Edwards will present a special panel at Celebration Europe along with “special guests.”

The Friday event could be similar to The Force Awakens reveal at last year’s Celebration Anaheim, which featured several stars (John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, among others) as well as a second teaser trailer.

Disney pulling the plug on Infinity

In a bit of a surprise announcement, Disney’s toys-to-life game, Disney Infinity, which introduced Star Wars characters in its 2015 release of Infinity 3.0, is going to be shut down in June.

In line with the company’s quarterly financial report, Disney decided to end the popular game, which was first introduced in 2013, and shutter the game studio, Avalanche as the company moves out of game publishing and toward solely being a game-licensing company, much like when Lucasfilm shifted LucasArts out of making games and just into licensing games to companies like EA. Disney won’t be pulling the plug immediately, as there are a few more products coming out this month and in June.

On the plus side, those Disney Infinity figures that have already been spotted on clearance will probably get even more discounted at the retailers. Star Wars figurines include characters from the original trilogy, The Clone Wars, The Force Awakens and Rebels.

Wear Star Wars Every Day: Week 18

#WearStarWarsEveryDay heads out of April and into its fifth month, May! No donations to Collateral Repair Project in this week, but we did have a whole bunch of folks who lent or donated clothing for the last two days of my Celebration streak and the beginning of my monthly focus on fandom! Thanks to Paula for the donated shirt, and Todd, Debby, Jennifer, and Caitlin for letting me borrow items of clothing — this time going on the small side with a bib and a ladies small t-shirt. This review for Week 18 covers April 29 to May 5 of my wearathon, and an update on fundraising for Collateral Repair Project, a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance, education, and community support to urban refugees. Also, I was on the Galactic Fashion podcast recently talking about the project and about geek fashion for guys!

Just a reminder, I want May to be a showcase of Star Wars fandom, highlighting different fan efforts such as websites, podcasts, costume clubs, collecting clubs, artwork, etc. So if you’ve got something cool to donate or lend, like a club shirt, hat or costume item, send it on over, and I’ll promote your group or solo effort. (Some) Bloodline questions answered; Pablo dishes on the book’s origins

Bloodline has been out for nearly a week now, and we’ve had interviews with author Claudia Gray from Entertainment Weekly and StarWars.com (by our own James!) Questions answered include how she incorporated that one Leia meme, what part of ANH got retconed, and how you pronounce ‘Casterfo.’
