week-46-title-card

#WearStarWarsEveryDay covers my noggin for all of week 46 with a run of headwear! For this stretch of my fundraising campaign for Collateral Repair Project, I put on a bunch of Star Wars hats, and give a tip of my top hat to our anonymous monthly donor, as well as to Kristen for donating one of the hats worn this week. Thanks also to James, who lent me four of the hats you’ll see in this recap, as well as Reynalyn and Todd. Don’t forget that as we approach Thanksgiving, you can still get entered into the Wear Star Wars Every Day Thanks-for-giving prize drawing for such cool prizes as a set of four Topps Star Wars trading card series books, a copy of Ahsoka signed by both E.K. Johnston and Ashley Eckstein, and more!

Every day I wear a new and different Star Wars apparel item, my daily pledge makers will chip in $4.65 to Collateral Repair Project! There’s a couple of baseball caps, including two from the 501st Legion, and a bucket / fishing hat and a homemade crochet Artoo beanie with tassels! This review for Week 46 covers November 11 to November 18 of my wearathon, and an update on fundraising for and the latest happenings at Collateral Repair Project, a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance, education, and community support to urban refugees.

New look at Orlando’s Star Wars Land (and some Star Tours news)

swland-112016s

The Disney Parks blog has shared a new image of the Star Wars area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. You can get a high-res version of the image at their blog.

The filename contains the term ‘Delos,’ which jumped out at me – too much Westworld? – but a quick Google search shows it’s a codename that’s been in use for a while regarding the early part of the project, with ‘Atlantis’ being used for the next phase.

Also part of the announcement is news that they’re working on an Episode VIII addition to Star Tours. (Given how much filming was done in Ireland, Ahch-To might be a good bet, but it’s probably far too early for solid guessing.) There’s no mention of Rogue One – and if they were adding something for 2016, we’d probably have heard by now. Given that Star Tours has a rather loose relation to timeline or canon, I wonder if they’re waiting to see how the film is received? Or perhaps until after the events of Rogue One are less spoilery?

Emilia Clarke cast in Han Solo standalone

emilia-clarke-got

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has landed a role in the upcoming young Han Solo film, per StarWars.com.

It’s not yet clear if this is the same role we’ve heard that Tessa Thompson, Zoe Kravitz and Naomi Scott tested for. But Variety says that Clarke tested with a different group of actresses that also included Kiersey Clemons (The Flash movie,) and Jessica Henwick (who played X-wing pilot Jessika Pava in The Force Awakens, so, uh… Okay.) Hopefully, the two different groups mean there’s another role yet to be officially cast, but at the moment everyone but Clarke is just a rumor.

Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover have previously been announced for the film as Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. We also expect Peter Mayhew and/or Joonas Suotamo to return as Chewbacca.

Interestingly, StarWars.com only gives ‘2018’ for the film’s release in this latest dispatch. It was originally announced for May 25, 2018, despite The Force Awakens, Rogue One and Episode VIII all being moved to December releases. Han seems likely to follow suit. Filming is expected to begin early next year.

Today in Rogue One: New featurette reveals PG-13 rating

ro-featurette2-01-ge

A new behind-the-scenes Rogue One featurette appeared today. It features director Gareth Edwards, stars Felicity Jones and Diego Luna, plus several new pieces of footage.

It also appears to be the first to reveal that the film is rated PG-13 for “extended sequences of sci-fi violence and action.” Well, it is a war movie! Rogue One is the third PG-13 Star Wars film, after Revenge of the Sith and The Force Awakens.

→ Elsewhere, Edwards says that Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO is a real scene-stealer.

→ Alexander Freed’s Rogue One novelization is moving up! The hardcover version will now be in stores on December 20, instead of January 3. The eBook release date hasn’t changed – it’ll still be out on December 16, same as the film. (Also, I think this got lost in the shuffle for me, but we did finally see the novelization cover last week. Surprise! It’s basically the poster.)

Yes, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford had a thing

ANH: Han and Leia

In her new book, The Princess Diarist, Carrie Fisher admits that she and Harrison Ford had an affair while filming the first Star Wars.

And thousands of Star Wars fans cried out: “We know!” (Or, well, suspected, as it’s been insinuated by Fisher and others many times in recent years.)

The Princess Diarist“I didn’t say anything to anybody for years but it’s not like anyone’s deeply affected by it anymore,” Fisher told People magazine. At the time, Ford was 33 and married with two kids; Fisher was 18.

Radar got their hands on an early copy of the book and are spilling more details, but Fisher is urged journalists to “read the book before they write their stories” in a follow-up with People.

Fisher did give Ford a heads-up and a draft of the book, but he has yet to comment. (Don’t hold your breathe.)

The Princess Diarist is out next Tuesday.
